It irritates me badly

When I see someone carrying around junk food (potato chip bags) and they constantly eat junk food around me. They crunch the bag constantly and smack their food. And they constantly need a bag near them. Some people can not go without their junk food. It creates anxiety the whole time I'm thinking please stop. When they stop for a minute anytime they move I'm thinking please dont go get another bag... theres no way to ask them to stop without being rude. There is no way of saying it. The response would and should be to tell me to get over it.

I worked in an office for a short time and this is the reason I quit that line of work. I avoided college for this also. I honestly wish I could get over it I dont like being a stuck up prick but its one of those pet peve. Ill even see people at walmart and if I see a bag full of potato chips and cokes I think ohhh its one of those...

definitely sounds like you have misophonia. lots of autistic people have this, but it's not exclusive to people with autism. if it affects you to the point where you quit your job, it would be best to seek some kind of psychological help. you should do some research about the kind of therapies/support groups/treatments there are for this

Something that irritates you that badly reminds you of yourself. Do some introspection and see what you do that irritates others.

  • No, I do not have an eating disorder. I believe I have a phobia of smacking foremost.

Well,, it's indeed difficult to have people with bad eating habits around without longing to commit violence. If it affects you so much then it's probably more than just a pet peeve, smacking might be a triggering sound for you. I'd try ear plugs or music etc., it's up to you.

I've got no idea whether I should be this concerned or not. Honest opinion based on personal experiences, I felt the same when I was at my lowest dealing with an eating disorder. You alright?
