I haven’t spoken to him for two years and I still feel like I love him/need him in my life. I was the stupid one who broke things off. He has been in a relationship. How do I let him go? It’s been two years already for gods sake.
After two years you aren't in love with the real him but an idealized version of him. You are only in love with the fantasy. Try to remember all his annoying quirks and bad habits whenever thoughts of him pop into your head. There was a reason you ended it in the first place.
I think you need some help to move on, maybe some therapy? Or you could check out Cognitive Behavior Therapy which would give you some tools to change the way your brain is giving you the message that you can't get over this.
Other suggestions are to keep busy, spend time with good friends, take up a hobby, start a journal, grow something..... anything to fill your thoughts which are nothing to do with the past.
Are you sure he didn't want you blocked or it's just her?
If it's not him maybe a mutual friend can get the message across?
If its him that wants you blocked don't pester him.
You have to think long and hard about whether thoughts about him are ever good for your life. Do they benefit you? Are you happy by this?
If you decide it is never good to think about him this is much easier. Because you've thought about it you don't need to think about him again.
