Isit unprofessional for a doctor to be in a relationship with patient?

No, what could be wrong with it? It won't affect the medical services. 44
Yes, that should not be allowed to happen. It's unprofessional.. 24
It's fine as long as the patient starts seeing a different doctor. 68
Fine as long as the relationship is going well, but that can end badly 14

I Thought that's what patients are for. I Mean who spends all that time and money in school, opens up a practice and doesn't sleep with all the patients. Most of you have been at least groped and it never hurt anyone, unless you can't find a tool or something, but that's what insurance is for.

Is it wrong? No. They are in a relationship as a patient and doctor. :-P LOL!

Now, if you're being dirty minded, suggestive? Or, am I being dirty minded? Umm. Oh no. That sort of relationship? Uh ummm, not seeing any problem there. None at all.

I think that it's fine as long as it doesn't affect how the doctor treats the patient medically

I don't see you it's wrong, you most people don't go to the doctor every day, and having someone close you or someone you know as a doctor is probably more comfortable.

I'm going to be a doctor and I wouldn't mind dating a patient or another doctor. For safety reasons, I'd rather him see a different physician so people don't think something fishy is going on (ie. giving out Rx pads). Aside from that, I don't see it affecting the practice.

    Teacher+student=no
    boss+assistant=no
    Doctor+patient=no
Are you starting to get the trend here? Whenever you have one person with authority over the other it is very unprofessional for them to date them.

It would probably be ok if they were to keep it on the down low, and if the dr. would still treat the patient like they would treat any other patient at work, professionally. And of course outside of work, do whatever you want! But also keep in mind that if something were to happen, and the relationship doesn't work out, the patient might feel awkward and find a new doctor.
