    Agreed with NotFloydzie,
people who say "Don't judge a book by its cover" are fooling themselves.

Society cares about looks, it always has and it always will. No matter how much anyone strives for equality, if you look like a thug, a tramp, a druggie, a prostitute, most reasonable people will look the other way. Human beings, by nature, are pack animals and will associate with people whom they find acceptable and will promote their survival (or the survival of a drug addiction, either or).

I know, it sucks, but it keeps rational people from walking into a ghetto and getting shot.

Look at the people we elect, men that wear makeup for the camera. We would never elect a genius but we have no problem electing people that would be disqualified from a middle management job because of their drug use.

  • The sense that humans rely on the most is the sense of sight, and it is from sight we get the most information about our environment, hence the first thing we recognize about someone is their appearance, and the information we are receiving from our sense of sight.

Its the same everywhere, if you look like shit people are gonna treat you like shit. If you are a handsome, in shape, well put together looking person, people will assume positive things about you.

Defiantly everyone cares about looks some people think you won't get any where without looks, look at all these celebs who look perfect all the time, its just not natural they are setting a bad example

Of course it is. But the thing most important is the *kind* of looks society is mostly obsessed over. In Western societies it's thin, thin, thin. In other cultures, extremely small feet and really, really, long stretched necks are considered beautiful traits.

To me, it's all about what individual people are obsessed over because everyone with sight relies heavily on what they can see. It's all a matter of what that person wants to see.

Yes but the society doesn't like bimbos too. Being rich, talented or smart is just as important.

    Yes for sure!

I would not want to talk to some stranger that looks all scruffy and dirty, who is smoking something.

I would rather talk to some nice clean person that looks like they take good care of themselves. Which everybody should do; it's a more positive outlook. It shows that they do care about themselves.
