Is this weird after-effect of weed normal?

So I'm a semi-regular smoker (I go on and off every couple months) and this has been a fairly recent occurrence. A month ago, I smoked a lot and I had this weird sensation of everything pulsing and it's hard to explain. It wasn't necessarily bad, just confusing, and it mostly went away the next day. Then this weekend I basically spent 72 hours straight high. The first it took a few hours (and more hits) before I had that weird pulsating feeling, and the next morning I still felt it even though I was (pretty sure I was) stone-cold sober.

I smoked all day and the feeling kind of lingered. Then the next morning I took maybe two hits and I felt it all day again! I smoked again last night and I felt better about it when I was high but when I'm sober and it's happening it's just wrong.

To describe the feeling, it's like I can feel everything happening multiple times. Like, when I fold my legs it feels distorted like I have five legs where I have one and it's just happening over and over again. I'm very confused and uncomfortable and it's hard for me to do things. Is this normal?

It is kind of normal. Everyone reacts differently to drugs. Not one size fits all. It is most likely harmless and just a benign side effect. If it continues to bug you just stop smoking. If it still continues after you have stopped using the weed for awhile i suggest you seek medical advice. I really think it will go away when you are sober though.

This is the reason why I hate pot. It's too much of a mixed bag. You never know for sure how it's going to affect you and sometimes it can cause unwanted anxiety and paranoia.

    • Well, I was anxious and paranoid before I smoked pot regularly and it actually really helped with that. It depends on the person, you know?

In certain cases people can develop HPPD (Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder) from pot.

In some cases it goes away.
In other cases the perception strengthens and this will become your new reality.
It may be accompanied by after-images, tracers behind moving objects, and static or snowy vision in darkness.

Congratulations... you done woke your subconscious mind without meaning to.

Ha! I've been like that ever since I began taking LSD.
It doesn't really bother me, it's actually kind of fascinating.

Yeah, I was born seeing this way and didn't have any words for it until age forty or so.

        it's been ... weird.
        Good, but weird.

      • It is kinda cool and it's also kind of numbing which is rad but then it makes some things super hard like pulling up my pants it's hard to explain lol

    • Thanks for letting me know about that. I'm not sure that's what it is but I'll keep it mind and bring it up to my psychiatrist if it persists.

You just gotta smoke more and build up your tolerance. You will get used to it and learn to love it!

Is it just pot or pot mixed with something?

    • Just pot. I just realized that there's a really numbing affect to it, too. Like I'm not feeling pain/cold normally.
