Is this the ultimate asshole?

An acquaintance of mine was driving drunk as hell and flipped his truck several times and was ejected. He had several broken bones including two cracked vertebrae. While in the hospital, he verbally abused the nurses and refused treatment at times. Within a day of being released, he got an infection in the stitches on his back, I assume from the fact that he let's his little dogs sleep with his m. He was then readmitted.

He had no insurance and left the hospital with a bill of $150000 which may reach $250k when all is tallied.

He now wants to sue the hospital for pain and suffering for his infection. He claims the nurses not wanting to come in any more than the minimum caused his infection and made his suffering during his stay worse.

Have you ever met such a douchebag?

Yes, he is an asshole. But the nurses are assholes for not coming in and changing his bandages like they are supposed to. And the doctors and insurance companies are assholes for charging so much.

He "claims" the nurses didn't give him appropriate treatment: personally I wouldn't believe such a fuckwit about anything. Nurses and doctors and paramedics cop a lot of abuse, including physical attacks, from the public and if he was refusing treatment and abusing them he got exactly what he deserved.

As far as the medical expenses are concerned, how about the arseholes and their supporters who won't set up a proper medical system in your country? It's not rocket science!

Yeah,The government is owned by big pharma, which is why they don't want people to get healthy.I have protested it. Would like to see something in the middle.Because completely socialized medicine is bad as well.# Charlie Gard #

What's wrong with "socialized medicine"? If you mean a public medical system which (at least in theory) means no-one goes without good medical treatment, what's so "bad" about that? You'd rather that was only available for rich people?

Australia has what you'd call socialized medicine, and it's not perfect but is reasonably fair and has been for decades.

          • There are reasons, whether understandable or not, why the USA hasn't developed such a system. One is that we spend so much money on foreign aid, a solid $50 billion a year. Another is the sheer strength and technology of our military, which is needed for both our own defense and for defense of our allies. Expenditures like these make it hard to construct a functional healthcare system simply due to the economics of the situation. Where does the money come from? The military budget? No, it is almost unanymous that our military needs good funding. Foreign aid? Good luck. The epa? No, the tree huggers would riot.

We will eventually get such a system, but it will take time.

If the usa stopped trying to be the policeman of the entire world and stop spending billions (trillions?) on killing people (mostly civilians) in other countries there'd be plenty of money to solve social problems such as universal health care: it's a matter of priorities and how much your citizens care about what sort of government you vote into power.

As in Australia, if governments taxed the wealthy they'd have much more money for real problems that affect ordinary people.

      • He could afford it just fine, he just never got it because he knows that they have to treat him because of the law here and he can't be sued for medical bills.

The USA has had medicare and medicaid for quite some time now, which is practically free. We now have obavare, which is a so far failing system which needs to be revamped, but why it is that so many say that we don't have a healthcare sysyem when we have had one forany years? Its just not a totally functional system.

I hope he learned not to drink and drive. I'm just glad he didn't hurt anyone else.

    • He probably will quit drunk driving for a while, and then go right back to doing it, knowing him. I just can't understand the guy. After he had been dirt poor all of his life, he finally has gotten a good job and had a nice truck and a decent home to live in and totally screwed it all up. Now he will be on ssi for the rest of his life and never have anything nice again. Also, like you mentioned, he could have hurt someone else and he doesn't even seem to care about that. He's just a selfish idiot who only cares about himself.
