Is this reaction normal ?

Ok so my girlfriend was abused in her last relationship he was a meth head .We were out on a date (been together 7 months) Erik (her ex) seen us started harassing her.She told him to leave Erick hit her and called her a whore .I snapped, broke his nose shoved him against the wall put the tip of my pocket nife between his lips (i don't remember how it got in my hand ) told him if he ever hit her again I'd slit his throat if he ever insulted her again I'd cut out his tongue.
Would you consider my reaction to be normal? she thinks I should have just called the cops.

Yes it's normal, show him that there's someone who cares and will protect her now!

Well, sometimes, people with fried brains like that need some sense punched into their nose. Maybe he bled all the drugs he snorted out.

Also, the knife part probably woke him up. :P Good job! I say it's honorable. :)

I would've done the same thing. Ignore the fucking liberals calling you violent, you exercised your right as a citizen to defend your girlfriend, and that is honorable :)

You did the right thing. Dont worry about it.

Good on you mate :-) Sometimes violence is just and called for, in my honest opinion your reaction was normal. Maybe the pocket knife to the lips was a bit over the top, but the scare was a nice little touch to make sure he'd stay away :-D

    Big ups to you mate!

I find it normal, I mean come on he hit her.. he was just asking to get the shit kicked into him. If he just called her a whore, you'd be going a bit too far but I think it's rational thinking to want to harm someone who has done wrong to someone you love. It's really just male instinct imo.

That seems completely normal to me. But he is right you are going to get into stupid crap because she probably doesn't hang with the best people.

its normal to stand up for someone you love, but be careful, cause the cops definitely wont think that.

Damn, I want my boyfriend to stand up for me. (Not that he doesn't, it's just he had an opportunity and failed...)

Anyways, I would say that if you're in love and care a lot about someone and just want to protect them then that's normal.

Sometimes when something like that happens you snap and don't realize what you did.

OK he hit her but all you had to do was push him away and she could've pressed charges for assault. The fact you had a penknife on you means that you have also the potential for violence.

If I was her, I'd think I'd got out of the frying pan and into the fire. If she doesn't want any more violence in her life, she might just dump you.

Good stuff bud, make sure you keep to your word though. I'm not saying actually kill him, but he might take advantage of you if you don't do anything.

I think you shouldn't have chosen as your partner a girl who used to hang around meth addicts.
You are getting exactly what you deserve.
Now he will tell what you did to his little methhead friends, and they'll probably find a way to retaliate.Sooner or later.
You should have dropped the girl and get yourself out of that fucking mess.
If he was a methhead there is no way she, your precious girl, didn't know anything about it.
She was most likely in it too and liked it until things started getting too hard on her.
So I wouldn't even think about sticking with a chick like that. She is a trouble bringer.
    DUMP HER!
She is the kind of girl who likes breaking rules then calling the cops and snitching on you when the rules she broke suddenly cause a situation she doesn't like.
    DUMP HER!
