I have that same phobia. Its nice to see I'm not the only one. I've had dreams about planes crashing too. This started well before 9/11. I've flown on planes since I was little. We had to exit a plane by slide one time (can't rember why I was very young. But I remember my Mom looking concerned. I just thought it was fun). We had to worry about terrorists back then too. Flying overseas. But I'm not afraid to fly. Its not the same thing. This fear of a plane crashing into my house or building I'm in is paralyzing. Like the other person said I just listen for it to be over! I just came across this sight by finally looking to see if this phobia has a name.

People who worry like you have serious issues. They usually show up as health problems somewhere in there life and often lead to neurotic adults. Find a way to chill out.

wow are people with autism really like that?. I don't think so. It's just a simple phobia lol. I always get worried when I hear a loud plan flying over my house.

I have had that dream! However in my dream I'm driving on the freeway and a plane crashes on the overpass above the freeway.. My mom was a flight attendant while I was growing up so I'm not afraid of flying... Not to freak you out a few years ago a small crop plane crashed into a house in my town. I'm sure u can look it up... Happened in Roseville California. The only thing is the man flying the plane was in complete violation of flying regulations.

  • I get quite nervous when I hear a plane flying over my house and I worry it might crash into my house or somewhere else.

However I soon realise it's irrational and ignore the fear.

  • Well I don't "freak out" but I definitely do cringe a little and hold my breath until it's gone lol.

I dont have this phobia but my brother had a simmalar problem only with thunder. The planes only annoying me in my opinion. This is what you can do think of the plane as something you like and its dropping them onto the ground for you. So say if you like marshmellows you can picture the plane as marshmellows falling onto the ground. Or if you have ever played Mw2 you can picture a care package falling to the ground.

A lot of the time the point of a phobia is that it is by nature irrational e.g. the most common fear in Britain is probably fear of spiders despite the fact hardly any species of spider in Britain is likely to harm a human being. So your phobia is normal, in that like the majority of other people's phobias it is irrational. If you think your phobia is affecting your everyday life however, maybe you shouldn't think about talking to someone about this.
