I have the same problem! It's like I dont trust them! I have to feel them out first.
Truthfully, most people aren't worth the time to get to know.
You're probably the smart one. You choose your friends carefully.
Meeting new people can be difficult. Try to find common ground in conversation. Smile. Look people in the eye when you talk. And there's really nothing wrong with being a little on the quiet side. Everyone likes a good listener, so play to your strengths. Ask enough questions to keep folks talking and take it in. You'll figure out soon enough whether you're interested.
So that you have even one more perspective, I'll tell you what happens to me.
I'm usually the very first person to be outgoing/talkative with new people. But when I meet shy people (which seem to be the majority) that barley respond, or become stand-offish, I get pretty insecure myself and think that everyone hates me. So don't feel alone. Everyone has their own issues with new people. I'm actually starting to become more like you these days.(shy, or just not caring as much about impressing new people)
you're normal..you're just shy. i'm the same way. like, i'm shy around people at first, but then when i get to know them better i open up more.
