Is this normal? or serious?

A few years ago when I grew my hair out I would shake the water out of my head after showering, and unfortunately the shaking of my head stuck with me up until now as I am typing.

Twitches that I have had include; Head shaking (sometimes violent), grunting or similar noise making actions, blinking hard or excessively, clicking my teeth, and biting the insides of my cheeks.

The ticks have gotten less frequent over the past few years, but a few people have seen me do them and they are pretty embarrassing. Should I mention this in a serious manner to anybody? Could this just be OCD? I also arrange things that "distract" me when I am watching tv or something of the sort.

It is very likely that you have tourretts syndrome. Most people associate this disorder with compulsive swearing, but it is a neurological disorder that can manifest in a multitude of ticks.

    Good luck. :)

Don't fight the urges or they just grow stronger. Some people with ADD have these difficulties as a side effect of their meds. I was one of them. They add a little sidekick of sorts and presto! No more shimmying! talk to your doc

I actually have the exact same thing right down to the head shaking thing. I have OCD and mild autism. I have a ton of habits. I have however, found somewhat of a cure. If you quit one habit, a new one will automatically form (in my case at least). So if you have a visible or very annoying habit. Create a new habit that is easier to deal with. (I am currently replacing nail biting with biting my pencil.)

I've had something similar when I was 13-14 years of age. Nothing violent though. I used to twitch my head a bit, and I used to always make 'mmm' sounds. I grew out of it though. You will too.

I blinked excessively at one point, and once my mother caught me doing it. I told her I had dry eyes, hahaha.

yeah, i had a problem with blinking all the time...but tbh it just resolved its self..doctors thought it might be stress/anxiety related.
