Is this normal in a long term friend-ship?

You see there's this girl who've I've been friends with for 5yrs but the problem is that i want us to be more than friends, but if i ask her out i know she'll say "no" cus she hates me cus I'm always screwing things up (i've screwed up a lot of things in the past) when i try to do the best things i possibly can for her and have sacrificed loads for her too...so what should i do, plz HELP ME :(

    Just ask her for a chance. And prove to her that you'll be the best guy. Do it, because you'll regret not doing so in the future.

    Don't ask her out if you already know the answer. You'll just ruin your friendship.

    I'm sure you don't screw up bad enough where it should affect whether or not she likes you. She might just be coming up with an excuse. Or maybe it is the truth and she's just a shallow person.

    Ask her what she wants from your relationship. Don't get confused yourself or give her the incorrect idea of the status of your current relationship.
    Tell her, we are friends, correct? Then simply ask her if she would consider taking your [our] friendship to a new level. If she says no, leave it at that. Be thankful that you have a beautiful friend. If she asks what you mean, explain it to her in an open and forthcoming way.
