Is this how most boyfriends act?

To make it simple, my boyfriends seems to really enjoy being around me, which is fine, great! Most girls would love it if their boyfriends spent so much time with them.

However, if my boyfriend is with me, he's ALWAYS by my side, except when using the bathroom, or getting something to eat.
I don't mind it for a few hours, but afterwards... I just kinda want to do my own thing, but I can't really do that.

For example, if I want to get on the internet for a minute, my boyfriend will always ask, " What are you looking at?" Or he will try to see for himself.

It's not that I'm looking at anything bad, but I really don't feel like I need to tell him everything that I am looking at. Most of the time, it's just stupid websites, or Youtube.

Plus, if I want to go somewhere by myself, he will ask, " Where are you going?" Even if it's just to my kitchen, or the bathroom.

I will admit, I'm not exactly a professional when it comes to dating, this is only my third real boyfriend, but even so, my previous ones didn't act like this at all, in fact, they rarely wanted to hang out with me.

Is it just me? Am I the one who is acting strange, or is my boyfirend?

It's normal behavior. 17

You should communicate to him that you need some me time too. He might be so caught up in the whole relationship thing that he doesn't see boundaries with privacy, even in a relationship (especially in its early stages).

Don't feel guilty for needing your own space. Everyone does.

That would annoy the shit out of me. I can't stand when people are clingy and nosy. He needs friends and hobbies. I hope for your sake he doesn't have abandonment issues too.

I have abandonment issues. He just wants to give you all the love he can. Most of the time they don't think they're doing anything wrong until you say something. I didn't. :/

Again, he just doesn't understand. Break it to him nicely ok?

Sounds like the beginning of most relationships especially if he legitimately likes you A LOT. And for the record, if someone gets up and walks away, I'm gonna ask where they're going LOL.

He sounds very immature and insecure. You need to have a talk with him about this. It's my guess that he will cry when you do, and I'd take that as a warning sign that this fellow might not be completely stable. He's probably not good marriage material.

Might be that this guy has a habit of "overloading" relationships to make the relationship everything he will ever need. You cannot be everything. This behavior is a warning sign.

  • He sounds too controlling. Tell him you need your space and if he still can't respect that, dump him

      • I've got a link on my profile to rough recordings of the album I am working on. I haven't updated the link since November, but I will likely be done with it by summer. I probably wont update them again until then though.

    • Yeah, I don't think he really has any friends. Maybe that's what he needs.
