Is this bpd or something else

The catfishing post reminded me of someone I used to know that said that they had BPD. The person would make friends with unassuming people and then do whatever they could to ruin the “friend”. Then, after the BPD person would either cry out of loneliness or freak out in fear of retaliation. Then they move on to the next victim. Everything I read on people with BPD says that as a whole they are just scared of getting close to anyone so they push people away. Nothing about being cruel or vindictive. Was this person misdiagnosed or is it true that some BPD people are like this? If so, why?

two things struck me about that post

first was that her profile states shes goin to law school so thats just a bit too.....typical

second is if homey shes catfishin flips out and does literally anythin in retaliation her shes gonna get sooooo much mileage outta milkin every last drop playin the victim

which means shes not only fuckin with the guy but also erodin peoples confidence in anyone who is a legitimate victim

and who knows maybe the guys a secret serial killer or somethin and her life aint gonna go her way

    He had an obsessive fear of sex that supposedly came from his ‘childhood abuse.’ We only did it a few times, at my insistence so he won’t want to get laid.

Nah, that's more like straight up Sociopathy. BPD folks are usually secretly obsessed/in love with the people they abuse, and fear losing them. So they are manipulative in ways that will make their victim afraid to leave the relationship.

Yeah they fear abandonment on a whole, but some of them can be highly dangerous and predatory. They have explosive tempers and engage in “switching”.

Look up Danny Rolling, he was diagnosed with bpd before his trial, and was the inspiration for Kevin Williamson to write the movie Scream.

    Oh yeah that’s a good one. Yeah it does. The problem with them is they are so complex that we really don’t know a lot about how they tick. They still have a serious debate over what causes it.
    
    They strike me as like this half and half thing of being a sad person that you feel sorry for on one side and an “evil” person on the other. They are hard to read.

They’re using their ‘mental illness’ as an excuse, they just enjoy what they are doing. The easiest way to gaslight someone into thinking they’re in the wrong is to blame your ‘mental illness’ or threaten suicide when they call you out. Btw, I made the catfishing post that inspired this one.

    The academic path to becoming a lawyer is different in the UK to the hoops you need to jump through in the USA.
    
    In the UK, the most common first step for those who want to become a solicitor (the bottom rung of the legal profession) is to get onto a Bachelor of Law undergraduate degree course (LLB) at eighteen or nineteen. Since loads of people see a law degree as a certain route to wealth and power, it's usually a pretty competitive process, but all you really need is the narrow variety of intelligence that allows you do well on exams along with a convincing glibness that allows you to bullshit an interview panel. Being female helps too, since universities these days are desperate to demonstrate that they aren't gender-biased.
    
    Still, everything she's said makes me suspect she could do well as a lawyer. It's a field that's notable for a high proportion of people with psychopathic tendencies.

Yeah I dated a guy like that once. Pretty sure he had BPD unless he was just a sociopath. He knew himself something was off about him but thought he was too above psychologists to see one so he didnt care. Feared abandonment but still ruined people, lied etc just to see that he could. Its a personality disorder, thats why they act this way. That said people can still be decent even with a personality disorder if they choose to be.
