Is this being impulsive or psycho?

I'm a female student and I asked a college student (who was also a complete stranger) for directions. He gave me directions then rushed into the nearby IT department to print out a Google Map for me.

Alongside a friend, I was hopelessly lost - so his gesture of kindness was really welcomed. I asked for his name and number and he gave me them.

My friend (who was lost with me) said that what I did was "psycho". I'd assume I was being impulsive - but psycho? Really?

Can someone shed some light on this?

    Why did you ask him for his name and number?
    Did you find him attractive? Did you want to thank him? Did you want it just in case you got lost again?

    Ether way I dont think it was psycho

      He seemed like a nice person. I'm open to being friends or dating (not sure if he's single), but I also want to thank him properly over lunch or something. My friend and I were lost for at least half an hour.

    Psycho? Did you threaten him into giving you his name and number while pointing a hatchet at his head? If not, then no. Your friend needs to pick up a dictionary sometime.

    Psycho? For that? No.

    It could of been interpreted as you "asking for his number" in "that" sense though, which there is nothing wrong with doing. Infact I am sure that if you are "interested" in him then he probably appreciated it. However if it's just to be friendly with him, make sure you specify that if you two start chatting.
