Is this a normal dream to have??

Okay, so a while back I had this dream, and it scared the hell out of me. I fell asleep in the middle of reading '1984', so I'm wondering whether that had something to do with it.

I dreamt I was at the beach with the guy I liked, and he just started walking away from me. So I went with him. He turns around and says go away, he's going to see his girlfriend. So I'm obviously heartbroken, and I start walking back down to the sand. As I'm walking, he and a couple of other people run past shouting 'You've gotta see this!' So I ran after them to a train station where everyone was leaning over a bridge watching something. I could hear someone screaming as the train got closer. I looked over the fence on the bridge and there was a little boy on the tracks, and a train was coming. No one was trying to help him, they stood there giggling and watching. I scream at them to do something, but they don't hear me. I knew there was nothing I could do, because I wasn't close enough.

Everyone started running off just before the train arrived, and I ran to the other side of the station to hide behind a wall. I hear the kid scream as the train comes through, and the air goes all misty and red.I knew he was dead
I look up, and there blood pouring over the wall, and all over me. I try and run, but it stil gets me; I try and rub it off, but I'm absolutely covered in the kids blood. I look at the guy I like and he's just laughing. Everyone was laughing. This is where I woke up, and was almost sick. It freaked me out so much, my hands were shaking and I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Is it normal to have dreams like that?

  • That dream reminds me of how jesus died being innocent and all and people were happy to see him dead but a few ppl werent but they couldnt stop it no matter what. Like how u screamed for them to save the kid from death but it was going to happen anyways.
Also it reminds me about this book when the nazi killed this child by hanging and he wouldnt die quickly because he was not so heavy and the jews just watched him and couldnt do anything.
While most people dont dream of such dreadful things, i guess dreaming of it after reading a book is normal.
Studies show people who study then go to sleep remember much more than people who wake up to study or had studied earlier. The brain runs through whatever happened that day while your sleeping so its very likely you would have such a dream.

Seems to be normal, although, I don't know what the book is about.
Without knowing what the book is about- It seems that the dream might stem from guilt over inaction, and isolation of ones self.
Also, might just be a dream manifested by the book.

yes, totally if you're reading 1984, which is all about destroying people and no one taking responsibility.

Count yourself lucky that you're able to have and remember interesting vivid dreams and I think it's perfectly normal to have bizzare; even horrific dreams.

I think there are probably a lot of things responsible for the content of this dreams.

For starters, remember that everything in your dream is representative of yourself. The people, the boy, the train, the guy you like are all bits and pieces of your psyche mushed together to create events representing your inner mind; your fears and anxieties, fantasies, desires and aspirations etc etc. So although it seems like you're taking part in some kind of wierd horror film, what you're really doing is expressing your subconscious self using imagery that you can understand.

To understand a dream better, think about how the images make you feel, not necessarily what or who they are.

Personally I absolutely love those type of dreams; the ones which make you feel as though you've experiences something unique and fantastic.

I have scary dreams sometimes, too. I think that dreams are just a way for our minds to express our most inner emotions, and sometimes, emotions can get very complicated. It is normal for everyone to have dreams about death and bad things every once and awhile, but if you have these dreams all the time, there might be something wrong.

ask yourself this, is it normal to ask if dreams are normal. i think you are paranoid. dreams are dreams. if you saw that shit when you are awake then id wonder. just look both ways when crossing the street.
