Is this a normal division of household chores?

I work from home about 3 hours a day, take care of a toddler and do all the household chores. All the cleaning, laundry, dishes by hand and most of the cooking. I even take out the garbage on most days.

He works on his feel about 4 to 5 hours of his 8 hour day. When he gets home he throws stuff everywhere and refuses to pick anything up. (not even his clothes or dishes)

He says since I'm home all day, I should take care of everything concerning the house. Technically it's an apartment, so there isn't any yard duty.

Is this normal? Am I out of line to think he should pitch in with some of the chores? What about picking up after himself?
thanks

Okay, even if you go with the ur at home so you take care of the house thing, that's fine. He does seem to work hard, but running a house is a full time job too, so if he doesn't pitch in he should at least not make it worse and pick up after himself. Its not that hard for him to find the hamper and the sink.

Regardless of how much of his day is doing whatever job duty, the man is at work for 8 hours. If you're at home, you're considered the home maker. I think your responsibility is to keep the house clean. On the flip side, I do think he should be courteous in picking up his clothing or other things he lays around. But, vacuuming and the home chores are what you chose. If you don't like it, get a job. Hire a maid.

I disagree just because she in the house doesnt mean he can be inconsiderate, he should do his end too. Sure she may do most since shes in the house and what ever but he can help out once in a while... besides taking care of toddler counts as a full time very hard jobs... taking care of kids and raising them is very dificult plus doing everything in the house plus a 3 hour work ... wow! Defenetly this person is one of the many wonder womens in home
      that pretty much do everything
