Is this a healthy amount of water to drink?

I've heard it's possible for some bad shit to happen if you drink too much water, but I couldn't find a clear or consistent answer for how much is too much. I drink about 500 mL every two hours throughout the day, that's about six times total. So is this okay? Too much? Keep in mind I'm only 90 pounds (no, I'm not underweight, I'm really short, so don't comment).

Yes, it's recommended for people to drink 2-4 liters of water a day. I'm on about 3 myself.

Interesting that you weigh yourself in lbs but measure your water in ml. Hmm. Anyway, the danger with water is not necessarily the volume but more the time period over which you consume it. But 3 liters over the course of a day is just fine.

    • Yeah, I live in America, but I really never got the hang of fluid ounces.

3 liters of water a day is fine. As long as you are at least somewhat active, and don't hold your urine in for long periods of time. To get water intoxication, you need to drink about a gallon (roughly 4 liters) in short amount of time.

Water is essential to good health, yet needs vary by individual. These guidelines can help ensure you drink enough fluids.

    By Mayo Clinic staff
How much water should you drink each day? It's a simple question with no easy answers. Studies have produced varying recommendations over the years, but in truth, your water needs depend on many factors, including your health, how active you are and where you live.

Although no single formula fits everyone, knowing more about your body's need for fluids will help you estimate how much water to drink each day.

How much water do you need?

Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.

So how much fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

This is a very normal amount (unless you are diabetic) but I don't think you should be obsessed with drinking every two hours. Instead just drink water with your meal and maybe have a sip before any strenuous work.
Equally don't be fooled by the idiot who is promoting soda. It may taste great now but when it affects your kidneys you will wish you hadn't drunk so much junk.

You don't really have to drink any water since all the food you eat has a high water content. Those stupid 8 glasses of water requirements are bunk unless all you eat is freeze dried shit.
