Is this a good way to help panhandlers?

Ok, so i do not give them money. Pricks probably not be homeless anyways.
So how I help - I keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Sometimes I even send good vibes. Just like how people do when they do not want to actually get off their backside and do anything but have good intentions.

If you do not believe in a higher power, you can still keep them in your thoughts but not prayers.

Whattya think?

Why not just talk to people on the street and get to know them before judging them? You can make some great friends that way.

Instead of giving them money just go to the nearest fast food place get them something from there. Thoughts and prayers don't mean anything.

My boss will offer them jobs, of course it's just fast food, but if they're desperate they'll take it. And if they're fakes they dont show up

  • I used to hate bums, and I used to enjoyed watching the hobo hunters from Gantz, and even the real life murders of bums by some European teens.

My stance now is more nuanced, because you can't always tell who deserves their hardships or not.

If I encountered a bum, I might give them a small amount of money. If I had time, maybe I'd buy some food and clothes for them.

I wouldn't give too much of anything, because you don't know who'd trade it for alcohol or drugs.

We have this one guy who is often in the lot at my job who claims he needs bus money because he is trying to get to his new job at one of the universities.
Then when he has enough for the bus, he gets in his car and leaves. If you are scratching your head right now, that means you read between the lines.

EDIT - for real though, most, most of them are not homeless, nor hungry, nor trying to get to work... and sure as hell ain't veterans.

I can name ten intersections/highway exits where panhandlers are common.

Beggars do not deserve money. Aggressive beggars deserve a punch or kick to the face.

Isn't "aggresive" begging also known as robbery though?
Get this - one time some beggar cussed out my brother for ignoring him.

I don't blame you, and I certainly don't think praying for them can hurt. I don't care for giving hobos money either, but I have bought them food before in the past.

The whole point of being a hobo is that you actually work for money while being a transient.

Yeah, I guess I should have said homeless person, but hobo is a fun word.

If I told you what I thought they'd
    Label me a troll.
But, Google bums in Germany in 1938.
    There weren't any.

    • Upon reading your comment, I began to catch whiffs of the bold, odorous stench of intestinal passage, likely from the bos taurus.

Oh come on Terri, no one judges around here. You seen some of the things people post and are still here, including me?

    I enjoy ignoring them.
