Is this a good plan to get my teeth fixed?

I'm not happy with my teeth, and I'd like to get them fixed or get dentures. However, I don't have dental insurance or enough money. So, I formulated a plan:

-Not brush my teeth for a whole year (or however long it takes), and drink nothing but Mountain Dew and eat a lot of candy so as to hasten the rotting process.

-Once my teeth are beyond hope, quit my job and liquidate all my assets so I am officially piss poor, and apply for Medicaid (it's free health insurance from the state for the very poor in case you didn't know)

-Get dental care and new teeth for free (well, free to me anyway)

Brilliant, right? Or not? If not, then what should I do, because I can't afford to pay for it myself.

Wow, wrong doesn't even begin to describe this!! 68

Wow, that is one of the dumbest things I've read on here today. Seriously though, that is a very bad idea and I do not think you should do it.

Visit a dental school at your local college. The student dentists always need real people to practice on and it will be both supervised by professionals and free.

    • There's no dental schools anywhere near here. There's barely even any dentists around here. I live in the sticks.

Alright listen forget that crap about Mountain Dew and candy thats gonna take alot longer to accomplish getting rid of your teeth. Start smoking meth, ALOT of meth. You want rotten teeth? Brother you aint seen teeth in pictures that are gonna be as rotten as yours are, they will be outta your head in no time. Being a degenerate bum, as you probably are, it shouldnt be hard to find a dealer somewhere. Plus being on medicaid will probably let you get some kinda of treatment for free for your raging meth addiction, once your teeth are all fixed of course.

Of course if you are in a real hurry you could just hit yourself in the head with a baseball bat a bunch of times until all your teeth are knocked out.

Actually, now that I consider it just go hit yourself in the head with a baseball bat a bunch of times anyway.

    • But wouldn't the cost of the meth kind of cancel out the free dental care? If I did something like that, I'd just go get myself arrested or a major crime, they fix teeth in prison, but I'd rather NOT go to prison, if I can avoid that. There was a man not too long ago who robbed a bank for $1, just so he'd go to prison, because he needed medical care so badly and couldn't get it any other way. This country is fucked when it comes to medical care. Sometimes the only way people can get by and get care is to either be piss poor or go to prison. It's the reality here.

      Here's this one man's story:

Alright fair enough, but I did give you other options. Baseball bat to the head would get the job done in no time. Plus you wouldnt have to worry about getting treatment for addiction OR losing money paying for drugs. The downside is there would probably be some irreversible brain damage, but judging from the original question that is probably the most expendable part of your anatomy anyway. Plus whats a little more brain damage in the grand scheme of things anyway?

If you do choose the meth route, which I recommend, remember you have to smoke it, dont inject or else your teeth wont fall out.

Your teeth may not be covered and you can't quit your job and expect to get free teeth. Ridiculous.

    1. The dental school approach may work but can take months -- it's a waiting list. You may have to do some legwork, calling around, etc--but if it's desperately needed I'd go in person and see if they can move you up the list faster.

    2. I'd go in person to one dentist office after another until one can do a payment plan. Let them know you can only afford to pay back $X per month, $25, $40, $50, whatever you can afford.

Stress that it's needed, and you have no where else to turn/no other option.

If it's cosmetic -- for braces, chips, etc -- I'd tell the office that you literally want to take your life if you can't get help as you're so depressed about it that you can't live this way anymore.

I'm a student, I don't have health ins, but because I cash pay my dentist..I get cleanings/exams/xray for less than $150--if I needed a payment plan they would have helped even for this small amount.

My brother got braces..I think it was $2,000. The payment per month were less than $100.

I don't have a problem with it in theory. But what if you don't get the new teeth? And no brushing? Wouldn't that make you feel disgusting after like 3 days?

    • I already checked what medicaid covers and I'd get all the extractions I needed and full or partial dentures depending on what I needed. They just don't pay for root canals.

This is a horrible idea. You don't have a guarantee that your teeth will get fixed. They might fall out before your little brilliant plan is even brought to fruition. Horrible does not even begin to describe the pain of toothaches. And guess what? Teeth don't grow back.

    • No pain, no gain!! The way I see it, I can't be any worse off if I try. I've looked into the requirements to receive benefits, and I've looked into what they cover, I think I'll be golden. I don't see a single technical flaw in my plan.
