Is the ideal body type in london to be stick skinny?

I'm sorry but coming from North America and having played semi pro sports all my life I am pretty built and have an athletic frame. I am also polynesian/filipino so obviously I'm bigger in frame. But moving to London UK I have found that I am seen as "Fat" here and I was wondering what the Ideal male body type was here. I also live in the East end where skinny jeans rule the world.

Another thing, how is it that the men are so skinny and yet the women can be so big here. please comment.

I live near London and there's people of all shapes and sizes there. If anything it's the media over here, and probably other countries, that make you think skinny is the way to go.

Last time I was in London, the people were pretty much the same body weight as anywhere else in Europe. I think the ideal body weight is down to health rather than any local perception.

I'm from Canada and moved to the UK a few years ago and i agree that the general body image here is of the grossly skinny/12 year old boy look. i don't understand it. i think in northern america there's more acceptance for the athletic/curvy build. as long as the people here are healthy then ..fine..but i don't get why people here struggle to maintain an obv unhealthy image.

I've wondered the same thing. I haven't ever been there so I can't really talk much but on tv there's certain shows where all the people are completely skinny. It just doesn't look like a healthy skinny it's more like anorexic looking girls.

As long as you're healthy, then it doesn't matter. I've seen very fat people still live healthy lives.
