Would you use some of the advice given by users on this site?
That wouldn't always be a good idea.

When I first came here two years ago, I was able to use the advice given to me by the users here. Now when I ask for advice here, most of it isn't even remotely usable. I actually considered leaving the site because of it, but I stay because the site is still fun in other ways.
If someone's trying to be sarcastic and trying to entertain my question with a witty douche bag answer just to gain thumb ups that don't mean anything in real life then no. But if I read a comment that is genuine, honest, and helpful I may consider it. It just all depends on the answer given.
I doubt many OPs latch onto a piece of advice and follow it to the letter. I suspect what is more likely is that they take a general impression from all the pieces of advice and use it to clarify their existing thoughts. They might take to heart some pieces of advice that they really like.
I use a lot of opinions and perspectives of others as a guide to making a good decision to and to feel a little more encouraged or sure about a thought i have. I dont see why not.
I think most posters do so mainly to hear themselves talk (or see their post posted), because almost every question has been asked and answered a thousand times already, on IIN. For anyone genuinely seeking help, I would imagine a search of the topic of interest would produce more results, than a single, already answered a thousand times, post.
Of course people use my advice. I'm a fuckin genius.
Don't use my advice.
I've used some of the advice I'd been given, because it was good and applicable. I'm not always able to use the advice I get either because it is bad or because, I sadly can't apply it to my life.
