Is that a normal wage?

Is that a normal wage?
I'm looking to move to the Washington area in Newcastle soon.

I'm currently a senior nursery nurse/room leader in watford herts and on 17,500. I have 11 years of childcare/nursery experience. I just had an interview today for the same role but in the Newcastle area and they offered me 13,000? Which is a lot lot less than I expected. I knew it would be less as the rate of living is less up here than in London.
My boyfriend has just got a 3 bed house in Washington for £116k and I can't even get a 1 bed flat for that down here in watford.
Does anyone know who I can contact to find out if this wage is correct for what I'm looking for.
I didn't expect it to be that low. I don't no what to do.

It's so unfortunate that child care workers are paid so little for the difficult and valuable work they do. I'm so sorry to hear you were offered so little money.

Wages in that field are usually quite low. Average wage jobs on London usually tend to add on an extra 3,000 due to cost of living down there. Going by that rule, the 13,000 you were offered is a little low, but still around about what you would expect.
However, I understand that with your considerable experience you may have been hoping for more. Maybe you should look into transferring your skills to something else?
