Is race really a preference?

I honestly don't believe that race is a preference. I mean I would think that only if you met every single person apart of that race, only then you could claim that you "don't date ___". People of one race don't all act, dress, or speak the same anyways, so I'm not sure how this could suddenly become a preference. I'm not trying to come off as hostile so if someone could explain this preference thing then maybe I'd understand.

No it's not a preference. 13
Yes it is a preference. 30

White guys look hotter than guys of other races. Simple as that.

Oh this subject never gets boring...

The only guys I find attractive are white. I certainly haven't met everyone in the world but in my experience I only find white guys attractive. The same pretty much goes for girls to but I find some mixed girls attractive. When it comes to being in a relationship I have never found a non-white I would want a relationship with. Of course my experience also informs my future choices so I probly don't give non-whites much of a chance but I'm ok with that as I know what I like and I don't feel like I'm missing out. I'm sure someone will feel the need to tell me how wrong I am but my preferences got me to where I am now and I'm very happy with my current relationship.

Its all in the minds of people

To me race doesnt matter, if I love someone the most, and they are a different race, I dont care.

But to some people, it is a preference. Theres nothing wrong with that, as long as they arent hating on other races.

But how is it a preference is what I'm asking. Not every white/Latino/Asian/black person is going to be the same as the next, so how can you categorize an entire race and say you don't like all of them.

Just because you have a preference doesnt mean you dont like other races.

Its just an opinion. Like I like ice cream lol

I didn't mean that you wouldn't like the race that your exclusively deciding not to date. I also don't think it's as simple as your preference to ice cream. It's like trying one type of cheddar cheese, not liking it, and deciding that none of the cheddar cheeses are worth trying even though they all taste different. (I don't know if different cheddar cheeses taste all that different but I'm pretty sure you get what I mean)

"so how can you categorize an entire race and say you don't like all of them."

what did you mean by this then?

you talking about a sterotype? lol

maybe a few people go by that, but not everyone goes by a sterotype

yea id say just because you try one brand of pizza and dont like it doesnt mean you should hate ALL other brands of pizza lol

but im sure people dont do that. some people just prefer a certain race because other races could have different cultures
and the people is used to their own culture

Of course it's a preference, if you're racist.

I only date white girls. I have zero attraction to black girls, and little to Asian or Hispanic.

    It's a contextual/in between to me. A grey area.

I get having general preferences as far as looks and even culture is concerned. Me personally, I love Southern European and Latin American guys. If I have a "type" where race is concerned, it would be that. I don't feel I owe anyone an explanation as to why I have that preference, it just is what it is.

I feel like it's only "a problem" or daresay "racist" when it's taken to such a degree. If you're openly slagging off a particular race, just being rude about it, and talking about your preference like it's just an objective fact, then that's an issue. It's also a problem if you're like clearly fetishizing and just making assumptions about someone based on stereotypical culture.

I think race is a preference. I personally have a race preference. In dating, that is. I have friends from all kinds of races though. It's not a prejudice its just a preference. There's nothing wrong with it.
