Is ok to want to change for my bf?

my bf and i are on a ldr and i went through a lot with my ex, like abuse, my new relationship is good but i can't stop my negative pattern of him cheating on me or something. he asked me to change. should i or will i get hurt again? i live in cali and he lives in aus. we love each other a lot but i feel like i'm not enough and he seems sad about me being a meano sometimes. help
