Is my period normal?

Okay, hi. I'm very new to this site and I really need to know if my period is normal or not because I don't believe it is.
I've always had a reaalllyyy long period, for either 10-14 days long, and it skips months sometimes and stuff like that which it shouldn't be doing because I've had my period for a whiillee now(I'm 18, got my period 3 years ago).
Those details don't really bother me much since it's been like this for so long though.

What is bothering me is the fact that I've gotten my period twice in one month, twice. I got my period on March 5-17 and it was really weird because it was ssoo light the whole time and mine is usually like Niagara falls.
But, wanna know what was even weirder? I got it again on the 25-31 of March. I went 8 days without a period that month. Then, I didn't get a period at all in the month of April. I got it the 21 of May - 3 of June and it was super heavy. AND I JUST GOT IT AGAIN(15 of June), and it's really heavy. Is this normal???
Me and my boyfriend do fool around a lot, but he's never penetrated me and hasn't cummed in over a year so his pre cum(from what I've read) doesn't contain any sperm, so I don't think I'm pregnant.
We're both virgins so I can't have an std.
So, do you think it's normal? Feel free to share if this is happening to you or if you think you know what this is. I heard I could have cervix cancer since I've been fingered and never had the shots to prevent it, and I'm really scared.

Thanks in advanced, and sorry for how long this is.

Yep, see a doctor any way you can. I was like that and went on the pill - fixed it for me. It's usually just hormonal, but since it might (and I stress might) signal something else more serious like a tumor on an ovary affecting those hormones (and again - MIGHT, NOT for sure at all), talk to a doc about it. That'll get you the answer and most likely a solution.

Also, please do know that your boyfriend's pre-cum CAN contain sperm. It's not necessarily common, but it can surely happen. To take precautions to lessen the chances to almost nil, read this post: http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/pregnant-pre-cum

This one might also be good for you to know to help y'all avoid pregnancy: http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/pregnant-without-intercourse

    Good luck! :)

I'd definitely talk to a GN. Also, if you feel as though you might be sexually active soon, you ahould talk to the GN about birth control. Good luck, Hun!

  • First of all, I completely understand your concern. Although when it comes to periods that anything and everything can be considered 'normal' seing as it is such a messed up and gross thing to happen to us in the first place, your post does raise some concern. I agree with the posters that suggested you ask a GP or gynea about birth control BUT, be sceptical of which kinds you are offered and ask as many questions as possible. You should ask for the combined pill because that is the only kind of birth control that will regulate your period. Infact, you don't have a period on the pill as you don't ovulate, but each (or most) pill packs include 7 non hormonal tablets in each pack to induce withdrawal bleeding that mimics a period, making women feel comfortable and safe for some unknown reason. As for people telling you you might have cervical cancer because you haven't had the three shots, those people are idiots. You don't get a vaccine that prevents cancer, you get a vaccine that prevents the STD Human Pappilomavirus, which if left untreated has a chance of causing cervical cancer. It is true any female can get cervical cancer (even if she's had the vaccines), but for someone to suggest that this might be a possibility because you haven't received the shots, is pure stupidity. You should go ahead and get them anyway though because its really a good thing to do especially before the age of 21.

Sounds like it may be something hormonal related, like an imbalance. I think seeing a doctor would be the best thing for you.

Perhaps birth control pills would help to make your periods more regular.
