Is my moms behavior normal?

I am currently staying at my moms house and about a month ago my uncle who is my dads brother (my parents are divorced too) pasted away and left us with all his electronic gadgets which include several broken robots and r.c. helicopters as well as computers. I have been putting the stuff together lately and my other uncle who is the other brother on my dads side is coming this week for the funeral and to collect what was left for him. I was planning on working with him to restore the broken electronics and figured we would then share them and my mom keeps nagging that I "hide the stuff in my closet so he doesn't take it." I think this is ridiculous as well as stingy because it makes more sense to fix the stuff with him and share the results. Keep in mind this is my dads side of the family and my parents have long been divorced. Is it normal that my mom keeps nagging me to hide the inherited items?
