My mom and dad asked me to submit this question.

My mom says, "Is it normal that every time I look at your dad, I want to slap him? and is it normal that every time he coughs I feel rage-filled?"

For some background info, they've been married for 37 years and occasionally have petty arguments (nothing serious though). Also my mom drank some wine tonight so that's probably why she wanted me to submit this question (she was laughing the whole time she was asking me to submit it, and don't worry, my dad had a sense of humor about it - though he definitely wants an outside opinion).

Are my parents and their relationship normal?

    They sound fun.

    Alcohol can sometimes bring out aggressive tendencies so that might explain the urge to slap and the rage.

      They are indeed a lot of fun to be around! They're really friendly and kind.

      I don't drink so I had no idea that alcohol can bring out aggressiveness in small doses like that. I mean, i have heard of "mean drunks" but my mom isn't like that at all, so I didn't even consider that her wine could be making her experience aggressive feelings towards my dad. I'm just glad she doesn't act on it and start fights with him. (Like I said, they're both really nice people.)
