Is my friendship normal?

I'm a 19 year old girl and I have a friend who is one year older then me and I have known her for most of my life. She is one of my best friends, but recently I have been questioning my relationship with her.

Recently she has been getting more flirty with me, and we often talk about sex. We are both open about our sexuality, I'm pansexual (i'll go for any gender, even if their trans) and my friend is lesbian/asexual.

We've been joking around about us dating, but I'm not sure if she is really just joking or not. I'll admit I fancied her a bit a few years ago, however she has never really shown interest in me and was already in a relationship with another girl so I didn't really do much about it. Of course I still fancy her, shes beautiful and I love her, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable if she didn't like me that way.

We've been talking about our sexual lives in a jokey way, and shes told me she wants me to get a dildo for her birthday. (I'm actually pretty shy about discussing sex to anyone, I'm actually blushing a bit now and feeling embarrsed even though I am anonymous haha)

I was just wondering if I should go for it and admit my feelings to her, or do you think she just sees me as a friend? Is this a normal friendship?

How can she be both lesbian and asexual?
I thought asexual was like...no sexual feeling whatever... Either way

Really nothing to lose and everything to gain. There are ways to ask and keep some plausible deniability if she declines.
