Is it wierd that i tried to get a coworkers number like this?

Was it wierd of me to ask a coworker female who i have only had a few flirty conversations with but she has never introduced herself to me and we only talk like rarely, cus we work in differnt parts of store.I felt like it would be apprtoproate to approach her because we always stare at eachother like she is waiting for me to say somthign and interested.And when she first came everyone got the vibe that she liked me.Well anyways today when i was getting somthing to drink at her station she leaned on this table that was seperating her from me( we were both standnig, she works at the drive thru and there is a table next to it)anyways she leaned over on it and kinda stared at me so i was like do me a favor , and she said depends on what it was.then i was like just come to me before you leave and ill ask. then i walked away and looked back at her and kinda squinted at her a few times while she was still looking at me.then i heard her say that was wierd...anyways then when it was time for here to clock out she came to back and asked what it was i wanted her to do.so i told her to go get a pen and paper and she did.and i was like alright so do you knw hwo to write and she was like yes and so i was like write down ur number for me and i smiled when she realized i was makign a pas at her and i was like ha that was nice huh, and she was like im throwing this paper away and then proceeded to walk out of room and leave for home...im confused did i misread her signals? did i just think that she was looking at me and liked me when in reality i was the one staring at her and she just happend to be looking my way everytime? im confused...is this wierd?
