Is it weird for a guy to wear a swimming cap in a public pool?

I have long hair that reaches down to my chest, and whenever I go to a public swimming pool I would always wear a swimming cap. Is this weird and does anybody else do it?

It doesn't seem weird to me. 90
It's fine. I wear a swimming cap to a public swimming pool too. 34
I find it weird. 39
I find it weird, but only for guys. 6
Why can't you just let your hair be free? 27

  • Not weird at all. Swim caps protect pool filters from becoming clogged with loose hairs.

it might be weird for some, but i feel anyone should be able to wear anything they want... if the women can do it, why can't men?

Yeah, anybody can wear whatever they want, but that doesn't mean they don't look like a total idiot at the same time. He could wear a pink tutu if he wants, but it's not gonna look good.

IF you have long hair then it's a given that you should use a swim cap. Just don't wear a pink one.. lol

It's not weird. Lots of male professional swimmers wear caps to reduce drag.

i'm a lap swimmer and I went a while just using a rubber band instead of a swim cap and it screwed up my hair. I still have a lot of broken hairs. use the swim cap to protect your hair.

swim cap is not for male or female, it's for long hair.

No, not at all! Swimmers often implement the use of this because it cuts down on water resistance and lots of wet hair can feel heavy. But, I think professional swimmers are advised not to have long hair anyway.

Dude you would've fit in great in the 80's when guys had long hair. You could've done the whole Poison glam thing and wore lipstick.
You can wear the cap but only with a banana hammock.

You should wear cap because it will reduce the damage from the chlorinated water (regardless long or short hair).

Like when I went to Japan, you are required to wear caps in the pool. They won't let you in otherwise.

I'd be disgusted if you didn't. I don't want to swim in your hair...
