Is it strange that i avoid movies with love in them?

I'm 21 and feel like everyone around is looking for love, except for me. I got out of a horrible 3 year relationship that ended with her leaving for someone else and trying to turn people against me, so maybe this has something to do with it.

Anyway, I've been noticing that I prefer movies that don't include love as an element, regardless of the genre. Like Deadpool for example, I loved everything about it, except that it was a valentines day movie, and that he had a love interest. I prefer to watch movies like Rambo or The Boondock saints, simply because it doesn't have love in them. I also started hating the Pirates of the Caribbean movies because of the love triangle, and then loved the 4th movie (considered the worst), just because Will and Elizabeth weren't in it.

My friend says that I'm bitter about love, and I think he might be right. However, I've always felt better about watching movie that has the character serve a better purpose other than finding himself a love interest.

So is it normal to admire characters that don't have love interests or does that reflect on my view about love in a serious matter?

I totally feel ya, man. The commercials for eharmony and such have really been getting on my nerves lately. I for one do not need someone else to complete me. They only get in my way.

I am not sad. I am thrilled to finally have total freedom. I've had my share of long term relationships and I'm done with that noise. Done I tell ya! Can't cage this bird. No sir!

You're speaking to a hopeless romantic. No way you can paint that to me makes it not utterly depressing. Especially when I consider how a lot of other people feel the same way as you do

Yeah I feel your pain. Lots of movies they just put love in it even when it has nothing to do with the story or genre itself. For example, war movies or action or thrillers. There is often love in those movies even when it doesn't add anything to the movie. I feel like they're just trying to make the point that love is a part of our lives no matter where we are or what we're doing.

So you don't like romantic movies, sounds more like a matter of taste than it does anything else.
