Is it strange for an eighteen year old to be with a forty-eight year?

I am just newly eighteen. I met this man through a mutual acquaintance, and originally it was just that he was going to do some head shots for me since I'm an actress. He knew from the beginning how young I was, and I actually thought he was around thirty or so. We expressed that we actually really like each other. He revealed to me that he was forty-eight, and I'm still a little shocked, because he doesn't look or act that old. I like him a lot, we get along incredibly well, I'm really attracted to him. It's very strange in my head, though, knowing that he is nearly the same age as my mom, and that my mom has dated someone his age and younger many times.

So how normal is this? When I still thought he was thirty, I knew it wasn't that abnormal, because I actually knew someone who was in the same boat...but almost fifty? I just wonder if that happens often in the non-creepy, 'I like you, you like me' sort of way, minus any hollywood drama :)

    You'll stop liking him soon, once you are more into sex with him and see all of his white hair in his chest and penis. You will notice the difference soon between someone your age and a 48 yr. old. He can't look that young, he might but there has to be signs of aging. His balls might be wigily or falling to the ground.

    He's old enough to be your father....but since you're 18 no one can say anything. I wouldn't say it's completely normal but it happens.

    Good for this old guy bagging an 18 year old, I think girls that are into father like men have deep seeded issues personally. Daddy issues. Do you resent your father? Describe life growing up and we'll be able to answer better

    I guess it's normal to like someone regardless of their age. Those are just called crushes. But to still pursue the relationship knowing the age gap, is not normal.

    I don't think you should continue seeing him. You guys are from different generations. What can you guys even talk about? What about your friends? Wouldn't it be awkward when you have them over? A bunch of 18 year olds and then a 48 year old. And vice versa too--when he invites his buddies over.

    well you're 18 so it's not illegal..but don't you think it's a bit creepy that a guy old enough to be your dad likes you? he's probably trying to pursue you because he can't get a lady his age.

    A general rule of thumb is to subtract seven from you age and then double it. So you at eighteen should really not be dating anyone over 22.
