Is it really possible to improve his appareance ? (male)

I wonder, is it really possible to improve his appareance ?

I ask because I'm quite unsure about the way I look : despite all my attempt to think I'm attractive and the reassurance I have seek on Internet, I still don't really like the way I look and I don't want to live as someone's unattractive..

Ways to improve appearance that doesn't involve surgery: Work out, do something different with your hair, develop a more interesting style (Far too many men dresses as if they don't even care about what they put on)
Grow facial hair/remove facial hair. Some men that looks hideous without beard can actually look ten times better when they have a nice beard that suits their features.

Nobody sees you as you see yourself, period. Most people have things about their looks they don't like. You are not unique in this.
Do as Saint says if you seriously want to change your looks that much and just lighten up on yourself; life's way too fucking short to stress out over such an unimportant thing.

Explore your uniqueness and individuality through your appearance and self presentation. I believe much anxiety about being unattractive is connected to feeling boring, unspecial and unworthy of attention. Doing something different and individual can tackle that feeling, and it's way more fun than conforming (trying to look attractive according to standards you didn't make up can feel like forcing a square peg into a found hole - which I think is how you feel now). You can reclaim standards by non-conforming and getting creative. A lot of people don't know how to start because they've never even thought about fucking around with their looks.

You don't have to change everything all at once. Ease into it. Even making one conscious change towards non-conformity, even if it's too small for anyone else to notice, can change the way you judge your own body. By consciously doing it for yourself, you stop judging yourself so critically.

These are all just my solutions. The most important part of the whole philosophy is doing it yourself.

On hair, you could go for an unnatural colour or bizarre style. At the moment I do both - my hair is blue and bleached blonde, and shaved into a floppy Mohawk. Hair is very conspicuous, so changing it is synonymous with making a bold statement which you might or might not want to do. If what you want is positive attention then good news: you'll probably get it. Every time I do something new with my hair I get attention for it and the vast majority of it is positive.

With clothes it's harder to break away from the norm. You could look at subcultures; most of my style is influenced by punk but only because that is what's authentic to me. You also have to be careful not to fall into another mode of conformism. You could try breaking gender norms. It doesn't have to be obvious cross-dressing; I take my skinny jeans from the women's section, and no-one notices. Some guys wear subtle make-up, other guys get tattoos and piercings.

The main point is: invent as much as possible for yourself. I know it seems counterintuitive, but avoid seeking advice or influence from friends or the internet or magazines or TV or whatever. The more advice and opinions you seek, the more likely you are to regress to the mean and filter your own individual ideas. You don't want to follow someone else's map. The only advice I'm giving you is "I do x, and I like it because y".

When it comes to working out, only do what you genuinely enjoy doing for yourself. A lot of people will say they work out for themselves, but I don't believe most of them truly do. They work out because they want to look good, and as a society we tell them that working out means looking better. We don't do anything for ourselves unless it's consciously against the grain. Food also; I eat basically whatever food I want and it feels good.

  • shower often and wear clean clothes its so important to someones attractiveness , 2 showers a day is not excessive and a change of clothes after each...no strong cologne imo just natural clean is nice

  • Check the shape of your head. Get a haircut or grow your hair and then get it cut in a certain way that fits your head shape. Do the same with facial hair.

Perhaps dye your hair aswell but get it done properly. Get a colour that will match your eyes and skin colour. Although most times people don't need to do this.

Do your eyebrows sometimes too but don't go way overboard. At most just take a little bit off or the light hairs on your eyebrows if your eyebrows can be made to fit your eyes and the nose incline. Be careful with this one because if you go overboard with it you'll just look terrible.

Clothing could also be a big thing. Don't go crazy with colours, have a good few shades in there. Make sure your belt colour fits the colour of your shoes, too. Best to wear colours that compliment your skin tone and hair colour.

An obvious one is to workout. Take care of your skin, too. Some scrubs and so on.

Just like women, if you are wanting to take pride in your appearance and look better then there's going to be a bit of work you'll have to do to keep it.

I didn't look too good until I done some work on my appearance and now I get my fair share of people giving compliments, so I'm sure if you do it right you can get the same outcome. :)

      Thanks guy ! :)
Have you some advices about it : I'm pale, auburn, green-eyed (in a quite dark shade), my eyes are a bit small and "sleepy", my noose is a bit big and flat.
My overall headshape is rond, not very masculine. (If my jaw don't seems weak)
My face is a bit doughy.
Yeah a picture would be more simple lol.

      • Yeah, a picture would be a bit more simple. I wouldn't want to give advice without a picture incase it turned out horribly wrong. Aha. Google is a good place to find those things out, such as what hair colour would be good depending on your skin tone and so on. :P

I don't know if it matters but I'm 5'10" (178 cm) tall and 198 lbs heavy.
(My hair is a bit endommaged by psiorasis, but i think it will grow again)

          • I would say you should workout a little so that your cheeks get a bit thinner.

I'm not too confident in your hair type and would suggest having it short, but then again I can't see the side. I wouldn't recommend dying it because it could damage your hair.

I think you'd suit a bit of a beard if you're able to grow one. If your hair goes shorter aswell to fit your head shape, I'd go with a bit of a beard.

I wouldn't worry on skin because yours looks pretty good, minus the spot on your chin but I doubt that's perminant.

Overall, I would suggest that you grow a beard. Your lips' width is a bit short which tends to be alright but the cheeks make it seem a bit too small.

            :)
