Is it racist to not be attracted to certain races?

Is it racist to be attracted to a certain race of people. I mean are you racist if you like a race that has people with very soft hiar or attracted to a race for dark or light skin? It sounds so racist coming out but are you really racist or just have a preference of who and who is not Physically attractive?

Yes you are 12
No you are not 142
It is your choice who you love 85

You have to believe a person is inferior because of their race in order to be racist.

You aren't attracted to people with dark skin? Not racist.
You aren't attracted to people with dark skin because they are inferior beings? Racist.

No, you just have preferences. If however, you feel as if you are more superior to another race or generalize other races, then I believe that is racist. You are attracted to what you prefer but if you keep an open mind about others, you are not discriminating.

  • You aren't racist. And this is not the first time I have seen this thread.

You aren't attracted to other races because of you'r preference. If that makes you racist, then I'm sexist for only being attracted to the female gender.

No, you're not racist. Unless you're not discriminating the races that you're not physically attracted to, you're fine.

Not racist but it is discrimination, as you are discriminating between certain races.
That doesn't mean it's immoral though, for some reason plenty of people think that discrimination of any kind is wrong. Some kinds are actually good.

Yeah, like employers discriminating against criminals. Even if it says "You won't necessarily be turned down for a job at xxx", if someone was on the sex offenders' list, and they applied to work at a YMCA, you know they wouldn't get the job.

I actually find myself disliking people of a certain race. Mostly because every time I make friends with/date someone of that race, they invariably end up screwing me over, stealing from me, or getting me drunk and leaving me out in the middle of nowhere.

So no, it's not racist. Not being attracted to someone of that race, because you're just *not* attracted to them, isn't anything to worry about.

My predisposition to avoid people of a certain race, whether or not they do something to harm me, might be an avoidance-racist tendency. But then, we all have different thoughts about different people. We're human. :/

Honestly, I'm a black person, but I think black people are not attractive at all (of course, there are a few exceptions. :)) But even the proper ones just seem like...I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings so I won't say it. But I'm honestly more attracted to Asians and Europeans, in all honesty. Also, I don't want to be any different race, because things would seem weird, and if I were the same, I'd seem racist. Plus I just love being black :) But yeah...sorry if I offended anyone!!

To the ill of mind: you can't say you are not attracted to an entire race of people unless you have seen everyone in it and felt nothing. Stop pandering and perpetuating unwarranted hate for individuals. Stop being frightened and making excuses by overgeneralizing, which is the first sign of psychological damage, and get some help with whatever is truly causing you anguish.

    • So we must be attracted to every race. If we are not attracted to all people of all races we must be racist. Is that what you are telling me?

Thank you for the attempt at satire and failed propaganda. Who, other than you, mentioned racism? No one is that dense, what I'm saying, (read slowly Hon), is attraction doesn't seek race to define it you can't look at every person and know what their racial makeup is. You may find a woman whom you thought to be Spanish attractive then later find that she is Asian. Your attraction wasn't based on her race. You do not and can not know if you dislike and or is UN-attracted to an entire race of people because you haven't "laid eyes" on an entire race of people. Don't be so condescending "Anonymous"

        • So people liking red hair is impossible? People preferring light to dark hair is non existent. The fact some people like those with a tan is unheard of? Some people like curly hair. Some people like soft skin not rough skin. Some people like straight hair.

So now you understand red hair isn't a race, neither is soft skin or curly hair.

            • So people liking a tan is bad? Also if you knew anything you know hair color is most dominant to people of certien race. Like the color red is most dominant in Ireland. The combination of dark skin and blond hair is only found on certien islands. People who like tan skin might pick a person with darker skin. Curly and straight hair is most common to certien races. Gingers often have curly red hair. So is it racist to like a ginger?

    racist |ˈrāsist|
    noun
a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.
    adjective
having or showing the belief that a particular race is superior to another: we are investigating complaints about racist abuse at the club.

^^ This is the definition of the term "racist". A word that your post does not appear to match. What you're talking about has absolutely nothing to do with racism, it's called having a preference. For instance, I'm attracted to Caucasians and Asians. Does this make me a racist? No, it doesn't.
