I didn't wear underwear for a few years. I just didn't see the point.
Jeans feel just fine without them.

But now I wear underwear because I lost a lot of weight and sometimes my pants droop.

The basic use it that it's a smaller article to clean, as opposed to cleaning your pants every time you wear them.
Now of course they're for comfort as well.
