Is it normal when a guy says they 'want to keep you'?

Since I was a teenager (I'm now early 30's) I've had 5 guys (ex boyfriends) tell me they want to keep me. It's usually in the way of a special moment and isn't based around anything sexual as it's almost always been said outdoors and in a loving romantic moment. One even said, I love u so much, can I keep you? Is this a normal thing that guys say? Has a guy ever said it to you? I've always wondered if this is in the 'guy manual' for how to make a girl fall for you, although by the time it's asked I've already been with the guy awhile and I've already fallen for him.

Girls; has it ever been said to u?

Guys; have u ever said it to a girl and if so what did you mean by it?

So is this a normal 'guy' thing to say?

I think that this sorry specimen is some sort of pussy. Either that or what is known in Quantico as a 'collector'.

I've only ever said that to one person. my current girlfriend at the moment. The reason i said it is because i love her a hell of a lot and i dont know what i'd do without her. My intentions were nothing sexual, just a way of expressing how i feel instead of the usual 'i love you'

I've had just about every guy I've slept with or sexted ask that.

I've also been called a unicorn, and asked "Where have you been my whole life?"

"it's like you were made for me," (this one said during penitration or in normal conversation)

Likely reasons such as: I like giving a bj better than sex, I'm a bit of a diviant, and a photographer so I've taken my own pin-up and boudoir photos.
I get pleasure out of pleasing, if I'm into someone I'm going to send them pictures of by body and sweet talk them.
Also a brat/ rope bunny who likes to play to the submissive role. Usually slip "Yes daddy," or "Please daddy," into conversation before it gets sexual to drop the hint 😂

After they get to know my loud smart ass personality, then see my sexual submissive side they tend to make those comments.

From what I get, it's their way of saying you're exactly what they were looking for and feel like they hit the jackpot. But I often assume it's because I'm fulfilling fantasies more than anything serious or love related. (these men probably haven't been with other subs granted much less one who's been collared for years at a time)

🤷🏻‍♀️ But we shall see, the guy I'm talking to now just said the "can I keep you?" and we were friends for months before I started reciprocating his advances.

    My answer? "Maybe 🤔"

    Gotta keep it spicy ya'll

I think it is a classier way to say:

I want to lock you in the closet so no one else can have you...

I think its normal. I havn't had that said to me but I have had similar weird cute things said that make me think 'maybe you do like me looootss'. It's a way to not over use the word 'i love you'

it's just how we express our feelings i think. Something "cute" to say lol, let the girl know you're always there for them, treat them like they're a special person and they mean a lot to you.

  • I've never told my girlfriend that "I want to keep you" but I've told her that she's all mine forever and that I'm all hers forever :)

My ex boyfriend did the same thing and we were very much in love. Our jobs created major conflict where we weren't able to see each other much anymore so we broke up, but he used to say that to me all the time. He really did love me with all his heart as did I. Heck, we still love each other , but he's found someone he can actually be with now and I'm happy for him.
