Is it normal we were lied to about duck and cover?

I saw a documentary last night and it said duck and cover doesn't work. I've been walking around with a yellow plastic duck and a scrap of blanket for the last fifty years. I feel really stupid now.

    You people are silly, I actually saw duck and cover in the movie iron giant. Good movie, I also like it in south park the old episodes with the lava. Really funny

    Sometimes, really late at night, I get naked, cover myself and vaseline, lie on the floor... and pretend I'm a slug.
