Is it normal to wonder why they are born?

My heart breaks when I watch TV ads pleading for money to feed starving children. However, I think these poor babies should never have been born to surely die with such suffering.

I can't understand when the parents are desperately trying to survive how / why they even consider having sex.

I also understand that the Catholic church does not allow the Aid workers to promote contraception.

It makes me feel really bad that my preference is to prevent these children having a life of any sort. Is it normal to think these children should never have been conceived knowing the life they were going to be born into?

It only human to want to progress and make babies. That's what all animals wants, it's in your instincts. I'm sure in medieval Europe the people didn't think "Well they'll probably die so let's not have babies" they were thinking "Let's have 20 kids, I'm sure SOME will survive."

Eat, sleep, make babies. All animals go for this.

  • The Catholic church is determined to fulfill 2Peter 2:2.

It's ironic that those war-mongering, child-molesting Roman pagans are proving the Bible right. At least I think that is proper use of the word "irony", isn't it?

I remember as a child collecting money for Oxfam via my local School and that was 50 years ago.
It would seem nothing has changed and little progress has been achieved. As long as we keep funding this situation the problem will remain and innocent children will suffer.
Contraception and education should be the priority, and if this doesn't work then sorry they only have themselves to blame for the outcome.
You simply cannot keep having children and have no means to feed clothe and educate them.

In poor countries people believe that if they have children, then they will be looked after in their old age and not die of starvation. Certainly the policy of limiting a couple to only one child has not worked for China.

I just think contraception should be freely available to the women / young girls.

Did you know that there was a campaign against Nestle 20 years ago? They gave the women dried baby milk for free until the mother's milk dried up then charged them, a fortune by their poor standards. I still won't buy Nescafe coffee or Nestle chocolate if I can help it!

Often wonder if they were shamed out of doing this?
