Is it normal to wonder why the diseased people are still in gene pool?

I know this sounds terrible, but I'm NOT politically correct and I speak my mind regardless of norms, popular beliefs, trends, etc. So I don't care if I offend anyone I'm just wondering if anyone else wonders this: I will see a kid with down syndrome or progeria where their bodies are so deformed to the point where they look like monsters. In our country we are told not only to tolerate them, but to hold them up and give them fake compliments to give them false hope. We tell them they can do anything, which is a flat out lie. They are forced to be allowed to enter the work force even though they would never get the job otherwise. We are told to tell them how nice they look and butter them up with all these compliments even though it's such an obvious lie. Does anyone else wonder at times why we have people like this around in our gene pool? In nature they would be eliminated right away due to survival of the fittest. Our evolution and species is hindered by keeping these genes around. If you keep alive the weak, deformed beings which are meant to die in nature, there is a huge problem. I know it sounds terrible but it's true. We are animals. If you told me I was going to have progeria or something, the last thing I would want is people lying to my face telling me how handsome I am or whatever. To me, lying to someone's face with a fake compliment is worse than insulting them honestly. If we got rid of the diseased people, wouldn't it benefit our species? I know this might be a shock to some because most of this nation is so damn politically correct, but I like to be a free thinker. Let me know what you guys think.

Im not offended by what you have to say. What you say would have rang true in older societies, and I can even see where you are coming from.

However it has to be considered that there are some handicapped people who are capable of things which average people never will be. Look at savants, capable of memorizing everything they have ever seen or heard and doing complex mathematical problems in their heads almost instantly.

They may be very limited in many daily aspects, but that also causes some to become extremely adept in other aspects. We have reached a point of society where not only can a genius, say like Stephen Hawking's exist, but we also have the means to care for and even communicate with them. Who knows what being able to better communicate with these people could do for science, math, and technology in the future?

Also in terms of the workforce, if they are capable of doing their task, why not give them the opportunity? Just because a body doesn't work doesn't mean a brain can't function. And in the case of mental retardation, the ones who are high functioning are in some cases the best employees on earth. They want to show up early, leave late, they often have to be forced to take breaks, they'll often turn out 150% of the work as a regular employee in a single day, and just in general want nothing more than to work and be considered normal.

Survival of the fittest is true for nature, but we don't live like that anymore. The largest muscles don't mean you're better off anymore. It's survival of the smartest and most socially adept now.

I think people who have genetic disorders should be taken care of and treated to the best of medicines ability they are not worth less than anybody else, but if I personally knew I had one, or was a carrier, I wouldn't have children. I think its wrong to bring a child in the world knowing it has a big percent chance of having a horrible disease. Misery loves company and the parents probably want someone to share their condition with. I also don't think mentally retarded/Downs syndrome people should have babies. Its pretty obviously a bad idea.

    I think thats sad.

What if you had a child who was born with that?

    Would you want them dead?

Would you look your own child in the eyes and tell them that they're a mess, ugly, and that they can't do anything? They might have disabilities, but at the end of the day they are human beings.

  • The deformed almost never go on to have offspring and they themselves originate from the healthy so what good does it do to end them?

They're an abnormality of nature that corrects itself with time not a virus or pollutant that gains momentum through each passing generation. There's no danger in letting them keep their life.

Hmmm, I'm a little offended, especially since I have an adult cousin with downs syndrome. He, of course is learning impaired, but he is a genuinely nice person. And, he's a true friend to many people. He is actually able to carry on intelligent conversations and has impeccable manners. He is also so confident and outgoing that he'll just start random conversions with people. And he creates really imaginative artwork. He's also great with music. Although he can't sing very well, he goes absolutely crazy with a drum set and is always on beat. He also learned to read some, mostly from being so good with music. He can be playing with karaoke and tell me a word on the screen is not the right word in the song or that it will be misspelled, and he'll always be correct. Of course, he has the classic downs syndrome look in the face. But, he has developed a unique clothing style and wears mostly suits with fedoras and boots. So, while not a lot of people compliment him on his looks, he does get compliments on his neat style. So, while these sorts of people do have some learning disability or other impairment, they do have the ability to learn and to be happy and creative. And I believe that no human should have that right to be happy or to live taken away from them.

I wish retarded people would just live in their own little retarded community. They make life difficult for everyone else. I don't care how disabled they are, it's not my problem. If I had a disabled child, I would probably scream, "GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME"
I once went to a country fair and these kids from a "special school" were there. The people pushing the wheelchairs of the ones that weren't able to walk looked as if they couldn't even take care of themselves. I went there for a nice day at the fair with my family, but instead I got a day full of frustration, anger and disturbance. I brought my younger sister to look at the farm animals, and the group of retards were there, shouting about, knocking everything over, drooling. If that wasn't bad enough, one of them had soiled themselves and there was this huge scene. Kill them all.

It's not just the disabled who would die in nature. Half the regular people would be dead too. Seriously, do eugenicists even watch the nature channel?

Yes, I wonder. But I'm more analytical when pondering about it and less "I wanna vacuum the gene pool. OH YEAAAH~"

were selecting genes based on how much money a person can make instead of actual envirnmental factors or i would have a hundred offspring already

People with progeria don't tend to live long enough to reproduce or to get jobs.

There isn't a gene that is passed on for down syndrome or progeria as such, they occur through something we call point mutations. A better example would be children who are born needing glasses. Lots of children at the age of 3 and 4 are found to have shit eye sight and need glasses because they have crap genes that have been passed on and the reason the genes survive is because it's seen as normal to have bad eye sight because we can cover up the problem with glasses or laser eye surgery.

I don't think that human beings are either/or: you are not either smart nor dumb, beautiful nor monstrous. There is so much grey; it is not black and white. You have no right to decide who is worthy and who is unworthy. To a genius you may seem retarded. To a supermodel you may be really ugly. I believe that striving for kindness and understanding is one of the greatest aspects of human potential, even though we are animals. That to me should be our evolution, not survival of the fittest.

well nature is all about survival of the fittest. i tend to agree a little bit about "retards" because i actually find it horrible to make them live their lives like that. having to have someone feed them, change their nappies, bathe them, clothe them. i couldnt live like that. but there are also disabled people who can live their lives just like any other person, they work and everything else. to be honest, i would rather hire a disabled person than an abled person because they actually want to work and do a better job and appreciate any opportunity that is given to them.

so in saying that, maybe they should kill off all the lazy fucks and politicians in the world too, i think that would benefit our species more.
