Is it normal to wonder where they place shemales in prison?

In prisons they often separate males and females. Depending what the jail set up is like. However we have people with genetic malformations that has both organs of male and female. They can have various different combinations of internal and external parts from each gender. However if for some reason they got a person that was both where would they place them? This is nothing to do with sexuality either. Its just someone who technically does not fit either gender. If its only female on inside male on outside or a combination like that they simply put them with whatever gender they are outside. However if its a more obvious combination like boobs of a girl and dick of a guy I not sure how they would handle this.
