Is it normal to wonder what happened with stories you advised on?

I mean, if you've actually tried to help someone, do you ever wonder if they took any of the advice they were given on IIN, if they took your advice even, and what the outcome was?

Is it better not to know, given that some of our advice won't be helpful and that - if you give advice often - you could have messed up lots of people's lives?

Or is it better to know so that, if the majority of your advice is helpful, at least you know you are doing more good than bad?

Do is it normal users ever look at their older stories, things that are now resolved, and see whether the advice they were given was good? I personally don't, but maybe others do.

Honestly, I believe that a lot of the people that come onto this site and post a story (in many cases, myself included) already have what they want to do or think in mind and they are looking for the validation. The ones who are asking for opinion are generally probably venting and looking to genuinely see if they are normal for thinking that (in some cases, they get the validation they're looking for, in others, a rude awakening) and the rest that are looking for advice, and not pure validation

Well those are the one's you're probably talking about. It'd be interesting to see the follow ups. I guess the outcome might depend on how active of a role OP takes in their own life and we're only getting one side of the story and I am babbling! I've never looked, though. Not much changes in the older stories but it'd be nice if OP did follow up. I've seen a few where they do, but too few to check my previous posts with any diligence.
