Is it normal to wonder what comment karma is and why mine is so low?

I've just come back to this site after a hiatus and noticed that I can no longer post as many comments as I like willy-nilly (Kind of a good thing).

How long has it been around for, what is the point of it and how does it work?

It was instated around new years to deal with a particularly retarded troll...and is subsequently infringing on all new users to the point where I believe it is actually detrimental to the site.

Wait what is it that you're talking about? Is there a post limit on things now? How has the site changed?

Thank dragon queen and her multiple personalities. It affects new people in particular (to the point of one post per day) until they get enough thumbs up, it seems. I'm not clear if reported comments and rejected submissions count.

Hmmm...to be honest I didn't know that people put up multiple posts/polls a day. I'll admit the thumbs up seems like it could be bothersome, but it doesn't sound like a bad precautionary measure. So only people with gold can approve upcoming posts then? I will admit though, that it sounds like the old ways were a lot easier, since I'm assuming there was no limit on how many questions you could ask. However, I don't see how this is too much of problem, can you explain that part as well please?

Sorry, I was unclear. When I said posts I was referring to comments. As far as I'm aware, people can make as many polls/stories each day as they wish. New users are limited to one comment a day until their karma rating improves. I think that's unfair.

The OP seems to be saying that he/she is also restricted in how many comments he/she can make daily, despite having had an account for a while, albeit inactive.

As far as I can tell, the post approval from gold users is all but ignored by the moderators, Udi has admitted that the new moderator has had some...ahem...teething issues, shall we say...ie approving totally ridiculous bs while rejecting reasonable posts. On one occasion, a story had been posted multiple times (due to a site glitch) in unmod...and was then approved twice. Pretty good indication that zero attention is being paid. Also in the case of multiples from the glitch, the mods have rejected one copy with comments while approving the same story without.

            That's my understanding, anyway.

Alright I'll admit if there was a comment limit that would be annoying. Really annoying, and it does seem like new users bare the main front of that new policy. Wow, that really sucks.

As for the moderators, I figured that they've always been careless, albeit this just seems to reinforce just how careless they are.

Management, if you're reading this, I think this is something requires checking.

              Thank you for clarifying charli

Started with DiamondGirl and her "rich" husband. I'm sure his name was Rich.

I had the same problem, OP. I really wish the management would fix that.

Mods should focus on doing their job better instead of putting up stupid new features, but i guess they're just trying to make it more mainstream (pretty sure they ripped off "comment karma" from uhh.. another popular site...)

I'd be willing to bet they're off their faces when they "work". Seems they aren't held accountable in any way, shape or form.

Why do you care? Is posting comments on some dimwit site the be all and end all of your life?

If it is, maybe you should find something else to do. Read a book, go for a walk, strangle a drifter?
