Is it normal to wonder if a bad experience is good?

Do you think there is good in a bad experience? I have heard someone famous say the cancer/accident/jail, I cant remember, was the best thing to happen to them. It changed them in some way.

Wouldn't know my life is perfect 3

  • An eagle takes the wind pushing against it, and with a flick of its wing, makes it work for it. But it takes a shrewd man to see the profit in any loss.

So yes there is good to be gained in any negative.

It depends. But I will say that there are situations that have no bright sides.

A bad experience is NOT good!
    Using your possible examples.
It is NOT good to get cancer
It is NOT good to be involved in an accident
It is NOT good to go to jail.

But, good can come from these things.
Overcoming cancer has made me appreciate everyday I'm alive
Since the accident I have now experienced more life
Jail time taught me that life is better on the outside.

There are some better examples of bad/good things as well.
The catholic church is not a force for good.
Once leaving the church I have found I care more for others.

Just be aware that a bad experience is not good, but good can come from (after) it.

Absolutely. Sometimes it takes something terrible, like a bereavement, to make you assess your own life.

I've been at rock bottom (you'll know it if you've been there; I'm not sure lots of of people have although everyone thinks they have). That's another thing that can change how you see the world.

Sometimes bad things happen for a reason. It tends to open peoples eyes to reveal what they should have seen previously.

Honestly, that depends on who you are.

For some people, a negative experience is something that only enforces their negative views of the world. It proves to them that there is no hope or happiness, that they can never lead a good life and it just reinforces their misery.

For some people, it's something that they endure and they look forward to the end of the tunnel, even if it doesn't appear close by. And when they leave the tunnel they are happier, grateful, stronger and they use that experience to navigate the next tunnel.

It all depends on who you are before you enter the tunnel.

Yes, it can. Usually negative impacts in your life teach you lessons and make you realize things that you weren't able to realize before. It's like one of those "everything happens for a reason" saying.

Or it could just be a random thing. Like you get an illness, go to hospital, where you meet someone, who you marry!
