Is it normal to wish it was acceptable to wear girls clothes?

I'm getting a bit sick of the limited range of what it is acceptable for guys to wear, at least in my social circle. Girls have a much wider range of clothing to choose from, compared to the jeans or shorts, t-shirt or button-up, and possibly a jacket that guys can wear. Is it normal to be this irate at the lack of variation available?

No it's not normal to wish that. But it's not wrong either. It's true and unfair that women have so many more options to express themselves than men. In a lot of areas, men are much more oppressed than women.
Women can wear whatever they want, look however they want, and even if most men don't find the way they choose to be, they are generally not scorned by society. They can be as quirky as they want and a lot of people find it cute. But if a man doesn't look "masculine", there's something wrong with him. It's acceptable for women to cry over a broken nail, but wrong for a man to cry when he's been shot. It's considered sexy to be a lesbian, but sick to be gay. A girl can have sexual experiences with another girl and it's just being "open minded" or experimenting, but if a guy has anything more than a handshake or the occasional hug, like if someone dies, with another guy, then he's gay and again a repulsive sicko.
Women who work are strong and women who stay home are nurturing, but a guy who doesn't work his ass off so his wife can stay home and be "nurturing" is worthless.

Nowadays a lot of these concepts are changing, slowly. Stay at home dads are becoming more common and accepted. A man showing his emotions is seen by some as sensitive and that's a good thing. Gay people are being accepted more as human beings than freaks.

But straight guys wearing dresses has yet to catch on.

If I were you and wanted more options in clothing I would try to find new options without trying to dress like a girl. Women wearing pants and shorts also has it's practical reasons. That's how it started. When women started to become more active in the workplace they started wearing pants more. It's harder to move in a dress as freely and also leaves you more exposed to the elements if you are spending more time outside. This is why I usually where pants.

There's very little practical reason for a man to wear a dress. If it's super hot out, sure, it'll breath better, but unless you are wearing leggings, which defeats the purpose, you are going to sweat a lot and get horrible heat rash on your thighs.

I don't agree with women trying to show their superiority to men by trying to dress and act like men. How does this make sense? You are showing you are better than them by becoming them?

But women are superior to men...in some ways. And Vice Versa. Women get to give birth. Men are physically stronger. Women are more emotionally intelligent. Men tend to thing more on cold hard facts.

    These things are true.

But men can be great fathers. Women can be as strong as they need to be. Men can learn to express their feelings in a more honest way and are perfectly capable of finding a deeper meaning to the cold hard facts. Women can set their feelings aside and do what needs to be done.

So, it's understandable for you to feel that way.

Might be the fact females cloth is poorly designed. Why all the girls huddle in a corner at dances. LOL

You are correct in all aspects..
First off, I am a long time married crossdresser with a very supportive, understanding, accepting, knowledgeable, and helpful wife who has taught me all tjhe traits to emulate women from presentation, to walking, standing, sitting, mannerisms, make up, hair, nail. etc and I do have a very extensive wardrobe including 42 pair of HIGH HEELS.
I am very happy / please and proud of who and what I am, and I wouldn't have it any other way..
Feminine apparel to me is so far ahead by leaps and bounds of male ca-ca, that I basically have very, very little in the way of male attire..
Ther is NO way that feminine clothes are inferior to male whatevers...

You could try wear a kilt? That could be quite "liberating" haha.

Normal. I always wondered why fashon designers always focus on womans perspective in clothing? It would be interesting if we were to wear the opposite sex's clothing.

Wanting more variety in clothes, or even wanting to express a feminine side has nothing to do with being gay. I say, wear some girls' clothes once in a while- more and more as you become more comfortable with it. I like to do the same. Good luck!

There probably is a variation, but just not reachable in your area. Try online shopping. I think you should try and wear different things. They definitely make more clothing variations for guys and would think that's really cool if I saw you.

  • Yeah - it illustrates the power of culture & history. Look around the world or back in time e.g. kilts, 17th century wigs & attire... Interesting post.

I like to wear womens clothing once in a while. It feels liberating wearing a skirt. I wish it was more socially acceptable. I say its normal, well it is from my perspective.

    More than acceptable to me...

Anyway, yeah, I've always wondered why male clothes have so little variation in comparison female clothing.
