Is it normal to wear a wedding dress you bought while engaged to someo

I am engaged to be married next year. 2 years ago, I was engaged to someone to someone else, and I purchased a dress. I still really love the dress, and it has never been altered or worn or seen in person by anyone other than my sister, mother, and myself. Would it be bad to keep the dress to wear at my upcoming wedding. We have a tight budget and I'd hate to spend unnecessary money. Should I tell my fiance?

The dress doesn't necessarily have to have a connection to your ex fiance.

Agreed. I can tell you actually like the dress and can feel that a budget is important. Does your significant other know you were engaged previously? If he does, it should not be a big deal. He may be jealous but should understand after some time and thought. I definitely would.

It's a dress. You're not wearing your ex's engagement ring :P Go for it!

  • I dunno, in a way it is just a dress, bud I'd be uncomfortable with it. I mean, it was meant for you EX. Just sell it and use the money to get a new one, that's gotta be bad luck.

Tough call. My best friend was faced with the same challenge. She had a 2 or 3 000 fancy dress laying at home but she still went online and bought a cute cheep, 60$ dress for her upcoming wedding. She looked amazing. I myself would have done the same. Its not about moving on. It is about starting fresh. Besides, if you guys have a really small and cheep wedding, you would look far better in a less fancy, more casual dress. Fancy would look out of place... If you are fairly skinny and it is easy for you to find dresses you can go online and find dresses for cheap. Thats what two of my gfs did. BCBG has a great selection for white dresses. They look really cute and even a little retro. Its up to you of course.

Talk to your fiancé about it. If you're unsure as to whether you think it's right, let him know and if he's okay with it, wear it! It's money smart at least =)

Just to me, it feels a little awkward, if I get married, I must wear the perfect dress that day. If you are lack of budget, I can share you a nice global bridal store online, my older sister bought her dress there. The price is cheap but the quality is great. You may visit it: hotinshop.com

Coming from a broke, classless redneck, when it comes to sentimental value vs. your wallet, sentimental value takes the back seat. Seriously, screw it, if you like the dress, wear it. If anything, it can symbolize you overcoming the past to move on to the future.

    Future Dress, awaaaaayy!
