Is it normal to want to wear diapers?

I am always amazed at how many people will say that this behavior is a fetish or things like it is "stuck in your subconscious." The truth is that you have not given us enough information to make such a diagnosis.

To be sure such behavior is not likely practiced by any majority of people, but it is also not all that uncommon. We will never know how many people have these desires, or actually engage in such behavior because there is a social taboo behind the wearing of diapers. Yet there is also very little evidence that it is bad, wrong, sinful or otherwise inappropriate.

There are many causes to this type of behavior that can range from attachment disorders to fetishes. Regardless of the cause, one fact seems to reoccur among those who wear diapers without a physical need in a relatively significant number of cases. That is, once diapers are tried for the first time (outside of babyhood) the wearer discovers they are actually pretty comforting and often an attachment occurs. I have seen this occur among bed wetting children that are diapered, children and teens (and sometimes adults) who have a curiosity or nagging desire to try them, and many other cases. In my own case I was diapered for bed wetting (surprisingly as a punishment during the day, and not for the time I actually needed them) my attachment started at that point.

Perhaps the most important thing to remember here is that we love, care for and nurture babies. We make sure they are warm, well diapered, clean, happy, loved. In short, we care for there every need. Then, at some arbitrary point they are expected to stop wearing and using an article of clothing that has become a significant part of there life, and very emotionally charged at that. I say this because the very act of diaper changing is very intimate and a point at which it is not uncommon for a parent to pay extra attention to the baby. So it is only natural that when we expect a child to use the potty that they can be very confused and possibly even reluctant.

You do not have a fetish if there is no sexual component to the diaper wearing. It may be a result of a lack of nurture, abuse, or some other trauma as a child. It may also be the result of late potty training. Or it may have just been the result of a simple curiosity that grew from childhood.

Regardless, it is unusual that a Psychologist would find a reason to treat a patient unless it was causing distress or interfering with normal adult life. In short, it is innocent and in most cases quite harmless.

All of this said it is actually surprisingly more common that most of us would think. So even though it is not common I say it is at least somewhat normal because it is something that seems to affect people that lead otherwise normal lives.

There are nappy-wearing fetishes out there. Don't quite get it myself, but quite a few people seem to enjoy it.

My wife and I both never leave the house without diapering up first. It's so much fun and convenient too. We use them for peeing only but we love it so much we will never go back to regular underwear or using public restrooms to go pee. We just let it go any time and any place. It's just a ton of fun being naughty like that and it feels so good when we're peeing in our diapers!!

Alot of times we whisper in each other's ear like yesterday at the lake I stand there and say to my wife, "I'm peeing in my diaper right now." And she says, "Awwww Nice!!Does it Feel Good Baby??" Yes Love!! It Does!! A few minutes later she's telling me the same thing. I can kinda tell when she's peeing her diaper because she kinda stands bow legged and she gets a very distinct look on her face while she's whizzing. LOL I LOVE IT!!

Before we got home I peed in that diaper four times, then its fun taking off our soaked diapers when we get home. We just get really playful!!

I wish I was older so I could buy them secretly then wear them.

I totally understand this. I have the same issue; completely embarassing, but who says its wrong just cuz were not babies anymore. Person above, very well put.

It's one of those "out there" fetishes, but it is more popular those most people realize. It's OK, strange fetishes are fun as long as you or no-one else gets hurt.

It's more popular than people realize. Personally, I think diapers are awesome! Be happy! ^_^

i took an abnormal psych class. maybe this goes back to an attachment you had. you know potty training is a big part in a infant. a point where they get attention from mommy or daddy. "yay you're doing somethin well kind of idea." and i feel if anything....that's stuck in your subconscious.

i don think it's somethin what most people do..or think about. but perhaps principles behind it are understandable. dont worry. if you get a thrill ... go for it lol
