Is it normal to want to try a nicotine patch?

I don't smoke, never have, never will. I know all the harmful side effects of smoke in your lungs. Nicotine patches are given to those trying to break the habit of smoking, because it gives them the benefits of nicotine, but not all the harmful side effects of smoke. Would it be okay to try patches? (Yes- vote normal, no-vote not normal) I'm 18, so age matters not. Also what would it do to me? I've never smoked so I don't know what nicotine does.

There is no benefit to nicotine unless you consider heart disease and high blood pressure to be benefits.

Seems odd to me. A patch is the least temping form, IMHO. If you want to try nicotine without smoking (not that I'm advising you should) vaping or even the gum would probably be more fun.

All the benefits of nicotine without those pesky side-effects! If you're curious, go for it. Probably what will happen is a bit of a tingly, hot, unpleasant feeling where the patch is. And a vaguely similar feeling all over your body actually - if you even notice anything at all.

It won't be particularly pleasant but trying it isn't going to hurt. Just remember nicotine is a poison itself, so you're not avoiding that part.

I don't think anyone really enjoys nicotine without being addicted to it.

Nicotine patches by themselves won't get you that addicted. More than likely, you'll just get bored (or tired of having nightmares, if you sleep with the patch). Whether or not it's worth the risk is different.

I started chewing the gum after my ADHD diagnosis because I had a hard time finding a doctor. It works tolerably well, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're just curious.

This is almost the stupidest thing I've read all morning. NO it's NOT normal. If you want to get addicted to a harmful drug, however, go ahead.

The tar in cigarette smoke causes cancer. Tar is the particulate matter in smoke. But nicotine causes heart disease and circulatory disease like gangrene because it is a vasoconstrictor. This means it constricts your blood vessels. Nicotine will give you bad circulation immediately.
Lots of people get hooked on nicotine patches and other nicotine replacement therapies.
DO NOT USE PATCHES. NO WAY.
