Is it normal to want to throw up after an intense cardio session?

So, I've just finished exercising, and I feel like I want to vomit. I don't usually feel like this, but today I thought I'd push myself even harder than normal, and now I feel sick. I've been drinking water and it is helping a bit, but is it normal to feel sick after exercising at a higher intensity than what your body is used to?

Make sure to drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your workout, then hold off on water the hour before your workout. Eat a medium-sized, healthy meal no closer to your workout than 2 hours before. About 20-30 minutes before your workout, eat something with a lot of natural sugar, like an orange or an apple.

This has always reduced my feelings of nausea at/after the gym. Also, apples always seem to make nausea go away for me. I hope this helps.
