Is it normal to want to sleep with someone you totally despise?

Why why why do I want to have sex with someone I severely dislike? Does that mean I hate myself?

Maybe the person is just that attractive? I feel the same about someone, but I wouldn't say I despise them, just dislike their company.

Actually, I like hanging out with this person because they're extremely intelligent, funny, and sexy as hell. But, they have bad character...lies, cheats, maybe steals...who knows. He's just an asshole and I am really pissed at myself for being attracted to him. It's baffling.

So you're a woman attracted to an asshole? if so it is not just normal, it is a stereotype.

  • Not at all, it does not mean you hate yourself...I've known people to have personality clashes, and it seems impossible to get along because everything about each other they cant stand...but your urge to sleep with him/her sounds like a sexual chemistry which is natural and not something you can easily change. Said in another post just now...opposites can attract and if you were to have sex it could be amazing...but aside of that in the long run if were together and just kept arguing then you'd probably be miserable!

You guys are really insightful and it's awesome. Sexual chemistry is a biggie and it's definitely there, along with that wonderful tension. And you're absolutely right about the long-term. And thanks for pointing out the fact that the chemistry is natural and difficult to change. That makes me feel less guilty :)

Love and Hate (or sometimes just Lust and Hate) often go hand in hand/turn into each other.

They are all very strong emotions that are interlinked and are to do with bodily feelings and nerves.
You can feel happy or content without feeling strange.
But love, lust, infatuation and hate, can make you feel all like your mind's all over the place, and it affects your body.

Because physical and emotional attractiveness are two seperate things. I mean let's say Mila Kunis turned out to be a serial killer, well most people would hate her character but 99.9% of the male population would still like to bend her over and give her a good fucking.

Sexual domination. It's been the end of many quarrels.

Cognitive dissonance... The conflict's so consuming.

That is an interesting way to look at it. Cognitive dissonance is typically unpleasant, but that doesn't mean it can't be addicting. I'll have to ponder that a bit more. Thanks for mentioning it.

  • Maybe because you don't really dislike them, you just think you should.

    Keep your eyes open.
