Well I know you're being facetious with the murder threat, but people that text and drive do put their own lives and the lives of others in danger. Every texting driver I've seen swerves, drifts, &c. worse than a drunkard.
it's a lot like drunk drivers, perhaps in the future there'll be stiffer penalties like for drunk drivers if it continues to be a serious problem.
I don't want to shoot them, but I would very much prefer to put them in a car, driven by a monkey, speeding towards some certain doom.

I think it's really dangerous and there should be some kind of penalty.
But who am I to complain about such things? On long car trips I used to try and read a book while driving. And my 'cruise control' was a brick on the gas pedal.

Not correct to text for sure wile driving but it's a mater of civic responsibility and heavy fines and driving permit taken away for one year.
They need to be educated, shooting people and locking them up is treating people how a savage would.

it's a bit harsh wanting to kill someone who's texting while driving. But I find it very annoying actually I find it annoying anytime someone texts while I'm in a conversation with them. I find that very rude.

It's not ok to shoot people. And, texting is much safer than trying to eat hot food and drive.
Well if you shoot them while driving, they'll just lose control of the wheel anyways, so I just say flip them off and steer clear.
I think people in general text too much. Pick up the phone, or look up and see the world. Way too many people with their heads done furiously typing away.

If they can handle texting and driving, then leave them be. If you have SUCH a problem with them, slap 'em with a fine or something. Life in prison is way too extreme, especially if someone can handle texting and driving.
There's no such thing as "they can handle it". Im sure all those people who got into accidents and killed someone thought that they could "handle" it but now it's too late because they ruined their life and took someone elses.

Believe it or not, some people ARE able to text and drive. The people who CAN'T are the ones who kill people on the road. You may think you know better, but you don't know the abilities of every single person.
Of course they THINK they can text BEFORE they get into an accident. That's the whole point. You think all those people who got into accidents while texting thought that they would get into an accident? NO.
The point is you never know it's gonna happen until it happens to you. And it's not about knowing the "abilities of every single person". If you do ANYTHING that takes your attention off the road then you're an idiot who's putting other peoples lives in danger.
It all depends on who you are. I drive roughly 75,000 to 85,000 miles per year, if not more, and I can do anything while driving. I been trucking for 29 years. I have more miles backing up than most have going forward, and I have text, rolled cigarettes, chat on the phone, and done two things at the same time millions of times, over and over again, and my last accident was back in 1984. The more you do of something, the better you become, it's just that simple and only common sense. For the same any of you's can do something professionally if you're doing it all the time too. So to shoot someone like me, you now have murder on your hands for nothing!
Would you be comforted by the fact that the surgeon operating on you was also watching a television programme over your shoulder even though he'd yet to kill someone by doing that? Or would you just rather he pay full attention to the job at hand? A little bit like a driver, who also has the potential to kill someone.
Why wait until you kill a small child before saying, "Oh damn, it turns out I'm less attentive when I turn some of my attention off the road?" Why not just do the best you can for the sake of the innocent people who don't deserve to be a victim of your risk?
